HELP NEEDED! Looking for participants for sustainable fashion study

Hi everyone, I'm looking for 5 female and 5 male participants (based in London/Essex) for my dissertation about Millennial's perception and behaviour towards sustainable fashion in the postmodern society at the University of Essex.

You're welcome to participate as long as you're into fashion, sustainability and you're aged between 22 - 37 years old. I hope this research can contribute to the fashion industry to stop using animal skin in fashion garment in the future.

Please comment on the section below or email me at [jl18760@essex.ac.uk](mailto:jl18760@essex.ac.uk) if you're interested! Any help would be highly appreciated.

How cruel are leather products?

Hi guys,

We are interested in you opinion!

We make Leather Backpacks and other leather accessories. Most important for us is that the production and the materials are eco-friendly and sustainable.

Here are some points we are proud of:

+) All products are made by hand in Austria (from experienced Artisans)

+) The leather is 100% vegetable tanned and from a small Italian tannery.

+) This tannery uses only leather, which is byproduct of the meat industry.

+) We use only high quality hardware, like brass and copper to expand the lifetime.

+) Every product is made with the highest quality standards to last as long as possible.

Me (Lukas) and my girlfriend (Dini) founded "Bisambär - Leather Goods", we actually eat meat just very rarely, but we love leather and its sustainability, plus it is a completely natural product.

We also talked to our friends which are vegetarian or vegan, some of them are also wearing leather products and don't want to miss them, whether they are vegetarians.

So let us now your opinion! If you've got any question feel free to ask!

Here is a link to our current kickstarter campaign with more details about our products: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bisambaer/the-artisan-backpack-by-bisambar-leather-goods

best regards Lukas & Dini

Women's silhouettes in sustainable fashion

Hello guys!

So i was scrolling on Everlane today and it got me thinking... why do so many sustainable women's brands de-sexualize women? Over-sexualization is also a problem, but i feel like so many ethical and sustainable brands look like they were designed for modern puritans? Like, i love Everlane, but many times i have bought tanks from them and the cut of the neckline goes completely over my breasts whether its a low cut top or not and it's often super unflattering if you have anything larger than maybe a B cup. I feel like just go for a crewneck if you want everything completely covered, because the middle ground looks weird... I think brands like reformation are doing it right, the clothes look like they were designed for women and not androgynous droids. Obviously, these are just my opinions and i'm sure these cuts are flattering on some so if you love how you feel in them keep doing you! But my point is, I think they're conspicuously de-sexualized at the detriment of the actual fit of the garments is my point. And i think that will keep many out of the sustainable fashion market. Anyone else have any thoughts?

how fast fashion clothing could be dangerous to your own health

Did you know that a common print and dye technique using pigments could be a key indicator that your clothing was made in less than ethical and sustainable conditions? And, it might even be putting your own health at risk.

Sustainable Sportswear

Hi all. I’ve posted here before about the generic ‘sustainable look’ like Everlane or Asket. However, I’ve finally pinned down my style: sporty and modern. The issue here is that I understand how unsustainable almost sportswear companies are. The hype-driven and synthetic materials often make these companies some of the worst offenders. I was wondering if you all were aware of companies that making sustainable athleisure clothing for men. I like Nike, but don’t want to support a company with such corrupt labor practices. Thanks!

Sustainable Sandals

Hi, I’m looking for recommendations for some cute sustainable sandals. Preferably no more than $175. I’m having trouble because I don’t like any straps between my toes. Any point in the right direction is appreciated.

Koi Footwear sustainability?

I've seen the brand 'Koi Footwear' being advertised a lot online and in social media. It's always advertised as Vegan and has a sustainability policy on their website, where all they really talk about is their packaging. Their shoes are very cool, but their prices reflect fast fashion (some sell for £5 and under). Do you think Koi footwear is a truly sustainable brand or an example of greenwashing?

Make up that lasts longer?

All the makeup I own is from like 2016. Now I know we are suppose to replace our make up every 6 months, but I don’t use it nearly enough. It’s been over 3 years and it’s still all very full. So I would feel horrible replacing it while there is still so much product left! What is your experience with this? I’m I wrong for keeping it so long? Should I use another brand that has less product so it will be used within this time period? I need help being a girl. 🤷🏻‍♀️
