Why is it so hard to move away from fast fashion?

We hear a lot about the environmental and social problems associated with fast fashion, but it’s still a big part of how many people shop.

I’ve been thinking about why it can be so difficult to move away from it. Is it mainly because of affordability, trends, convenience, social media, or simply because better alternatives aren’t always accessible?

What do you think keeps people coming back to fast fashion?

alternative to Vuori (athleisure): need natural fiber pieces with gentle, forgiving waistbands

Unfortunately, I am EXTREMELY sensitive to anything that is tight at the waist, especially high-rise elastic waistbands, and the wide, thick "hold you in" type waist bands that are present on most leggings. They give me pain.

I have found that the company Vuori has the absolute best, most forgiving and gentle waistbands. They are so comfortable to me (I specifically have these pants, these, these, and these shorts). Unfortunately, they're all polyester, and the fabrics have begun to irritate my skin.

I am okay with cotton/spandex blends, as well as oeko-tex modal/viscose fibers. The problem is, when I've found cotton/spandex leggings and joggers in the past, the waistbands have always been stiff, tight, not flexible enough for me.

Any ideas for brands or products that may work for me?

Would you actually wear a "modular" blazer dress? Trying to get honest opinions before we go further

Hey everyone,

I work on an EU funded project called ALADIN, we're testing small local microfactories that make clothes on demand instead of the usual mass production overseas.

One of the pilot pieces we're building right now is a modular blazer dress, basically one piece where you can swap or adjust parts (sleeves, length, fit) instead of buying a whole new item every time your body, the season, or your style changes.

Before we sink more time into it we want to hear from people who actually buy and wear clothes, not just us in a room talking to ourselves. So:

- Would something like this realistically fit into your wardrobe?

- What would make you skip it completely?

- What would actually make you buy it?

[VENT] I got burned on Vinted / eBay and now I have major trust issues. How are you all buying and selling luxury safely?

Alright, I need a safe space to vent—and maybe a reality check.

So, full transparency: I got completely burned on vinted recently. I won’t get into every single gory detail to keep my blood pressure normal, but long story short, it was a total disaster. (Think: description said "excellent condition," reality was "looks like it survived a direct hit from a lawnmower" / or buyer filed a fake "item not as described" claim, swapped it with a counterfeit, and customer support sided with them instantly).

Honestly? It just sucked. Beyond losing money, it completely stripped away the fun of collecting and trading pieces I love. That knot-in-your-stomach feeling when you open a package or wait for a payout, realising you’ve been duped and customer service is basically a bot sending automated copy-paste replies? 0/10, do not recommend.

It made me realise how wild the resale market actually is right now, especially when dealing with designer or higher-end pieces. Between fake authentications, bait-and-switch buyers, and platforms taking a cut while offering essentially zero protection when things actually go wrong, I'm left feeling super paranoid.

Which brings me to my question for the hive mind: How are you guys actually buying and selling luxury items safely on places like Vinted or eBay these days?

Do you rely on third-party authentication services before/after buying?
What red flags do you look out for in buyer/seller profiles before making a move?
How do you protect yourself against return scams or false claims when selling high-value items?

I love pre-loved luxury and keeping items in circulation, but after this experience, I feel like I'm tiptoeing through a minefield. Would love to hear your horror stories, your safe havens, or any general survival tips for navigating these platforms without getting scammed.

Anyone from Norway who have bought from Q for Quinn?

I am considering making a purchase but i feel unsecure. Are they a serious business? They say on their website ‘ We ship internationally, no additional duties or taxes’ But when you go to check out they charge you additional duties and taxes. Almost 50% extra. Is this normal? I have previosly bought from Pact and they had no such extra fees at checkout.
