I know sustainable fashion can mean a few different things. I specifically want to buy more natural fabrics. (recycled polyester is cool & all but my skin is so sensitive). My problem is finding actual cute not just basic pieces of cotton clothing. Please drop your favorite shops!!
Hey everyone π
I am doing a short survey on sustainability and perceptions of upcycled products.
It would be really helpful if you could fill in the form given below.
This survey is for men and women between 18-35 years
A recurring thread for talking about things related to sustainable fashion. Be nice.
It sorts through thousands of brands using certified standards and finds the best ethical variants, so that one can take quick decisions while making a purchase and not compromise on their beliefs.
You just have to add it to chrome and it’ll direct you to sustainable alternatives while you’re browsing for a product.
I’d love any kind of feedback y’all have, negative or positive. Would you use something like this? I just want this tool to genuinely help people and make sustainability more accessible.
Please let me know below ^^
I am looking for more chemically analysed textile reference libraries.
That’s to say a large number of textile swatches (ideally various blends, we have 1000’s of pure materials) where the materials have been chemically certified and so we can be 100% sure of the composition.
They are very hard to find though which has surprised me, I just can’t find companies that offer this a service. We have some great libraries already but it's one of those things that we are always on the lookout for. I’m just wondering if anybody has a contact for this type of item and can point me in the direction of where to find them.
Thank you in advance, any ideas / thoughts / contacts greatly appreciated
Hey there,
I'm Joe, one of the founders of POGO. (Don't worry, I know you haven't heard of us!).
POGO is a community of kindhearted brands rewarding their customers for donating to great charities. We work with brands to secure their biggest discounts ever, which you can unlock for a small donation to a worthwhile cause.
We have a number of amazing sustainable brands; TALA, Lucy & Yak, Colorful Standard, allbirds, Koi Footwear, Swim Society, The Body Shop and more. (and have brands like Reformation, Bloom & Wild and more joining in the coming weeks!)
We've only been around for a few months but have already raised more than £4,000 for charity, and this is just the start. We're currently in proof of concept stage so would appreciate any feedback. If you like the idea of donating to charity to unlock discounts that will save you more than you give, then please do think about signing up to POGO, our newsletter or even giving a few pounds to one of our campaigns. It really would make a massive difference (to the charity and to us!).
Thanks :)
I've gone up a few sizes in the past few years and have so little clothes that actually fit me, so I'm trying to sort clothes as sustainably as possible. A friend suggested big sister swap. You send them your unwanted clothes and they send you clothes that other people have sent in that suit your style. I was really excited because I thought this would be a great way to get rid of my old clothes that don't fit and get clothes that actually fit me. I sent them my Pinterest and a bunch of specifics of the kind of things I was looking for. I received my box and everything bar one thing doesn't fit and/or is something that is clearly not something I would wear based on my pintrest and my specifications. I'm going to send them the stuff back because there's no point of me keeping them. Has this happened to anyone else? Also has anyone got any good alternatives?
Exactly what the title sounds like haha. Most all my clothes are secondhand but i feel uncomfortable getting socks/ underwear/ bras that way. It seems like buying new ones is always far too expensive, and buying cheap is hard to do without sacrificing quality / buying fast fashion (which i’m trying to avoid). any suggestions?

I'm on the hunt for affordable, sustainable, ethically sourced makeup brushes. Specifically brushes for contouring, blush, bronzer, liquid foundation, powder foundation, and minute highlight/blending brush. I am having a hell of a time finding brushes that are sustainable, cruelty-free, aren't crazy expensive (I'm a broke ass bitch), and that don't seem like they're poorly made/sketchy/greenwashed. I'd like to buy them in a set because that's less packaging, but I really might be asking too much of the cosmetics industry here.
I have found some from Eco Tools that just don't seem like they're good quality, I've seen some from Thrive Cosmetics that cost an arm and a leg, E.L.F claims to be ethically sourced and they're working to be more sustainable but they don't prove their mica is sourced ethically, and I've seen others from various brands that are either very expensive or look sketchy in one way or another.
Am I unicorn hunting here? Do I need to lower my standards? Does anyone have any recommendations?
TL;DR: I might be asking for too much, but I want some makeup brushes that aren't too pricy, are sustainable/ethically sourced, and are cruelty free. Any suggestions?
As part of my design research project, I am hoping to collect some insights and more importantly enable a discussion. Thanks!
Hi everyone. I’m looking for a lingerie manufacturer for my startup brand. I’ve had 2 unsuccessful attempts in the last year with “manufacturers” that were bad quality and no traceability of the garments.
I’m looking to do limited runs (low MOQ) and to know exactly where the fabric to make my designs comes from.
I’m looking for somewhere that is high quality and has worked with startups before.
Does anyone have any suggestions??
Do you find them to be more or less consistent company to company? I'm a small in Patagonia. I haven't tried Everlane but curious what experiences you all have. I prefer to thrift everything via Poshmark after about 53 pounds of weight loss.
Hi there! Business student at imperial college here. Trying to gather insights regarding the potential for an e-commerce marketplace for sustainable goods. Would be super helpful if this subreddit answered some of these questions survey
I can’t seem to find info on this anywhere. I know the most sustainable you can be is to reduce your consumption, but is buying new clothes from a small, local business “sustainable”?
Hey everyone, I’m doing a study on the circular fashion industry and urgently need some respondents for my survey! If you’ve ever shopped second hand, swapped or rented clothes your input is highly valued! It takes only about 5 min, and you can win a 20€ voucher for Vinted :) Thank you!

Hello all! I'm a graphic design student and I'm doing a group project about the environment. My group chose to talk about the negative impact that fast fashion has on our planet and how shopping sustainably can help reduce some of the damage we've done. We made a brief survey to start off our research and gather general info from random users. We'd appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to help us out! Google survey link below (: <3

Basically what the title says. Not for research purposes or anything- just that as a general consumer how do I verify that the brand I’m buying for is sustainable or not?
I wear primarily only dresses and skirts. Hate pants. Can’t wear shorts to work. I also bike to work. I have one pair of bicycle shorts. They’ve lasted years, but really, with how often I do laundry, having one or two more pairs would make life a lot easier and keep me from having an excuse to get a lift to work. Plus they’re slowly starting to fall apart.
I’ve decided it’s time to buy some quality ones. I don’t want them falling apart since this stretchy fabric repair would be a bit out of my ability and ideally I’d like them to be from a sustainable brand, though if it was a buy it for a ridiculous amount of item like my last pair I wouldn’t be upset. These shorts have fit me from medium-x large in my weight fluctuations since I was just out of high school, 12-13 years ago.
Edit: the brand of my current ones are under armor. Not exactly a sustainable brand.
I have extreme sensory sensitivity with clothing/my skin and am looking for leggings & underwear that are sensory-friendly. I've found suggestions in other subreddits but a most have been for fast-fashion brands.
I recently tried Boody leggings which were super soft, but the seam between the legs was oddly bulky & couldn't do it. I've tried Pact in the past & loved their leggings, but last year I re-ordered & they changed the style and had to return (...if I could go naked 24/7 I'd do it, idk if I have OCD or something, but literally can't focus on anything if I'm slightly uncomfortable in what I'm wearing π).
Thank uuuu :)
Pretty much what the title says. Any suggestions are appreciated
I got some jeans on shein and now majorly regret trying to get super cheap jeans but I can't really afford designer jeans especially since my size fluctuates so I can't afford to invest in jeans... I just want something that fits well and doesn't smell of chemicals.

Unfortunately Elizabeth & Clarke have gone out of business. I have one of their shirts from Poshmark. Would appreciate any other brands that are sustainable.
Is not your startup.
It’s not making new clothing.
This sub is all about consumerist nonsense. That’s not sustainable. Reduce and reuse first. Quit buying more things. Quit creating new brands and startups. Where are all the repair posts? The cool thrift finds? The upcycling? All this sub is is posts about yet another brand that’s making new clothing. That’s the problem.
It is harvested from certified wood sources and is fully compostable and biodegradable. It has even earned BioPreferred designation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which is only granted to products made from renewable resources.

Hi All!
For the past two years I have been developing an fashion forward ecomm platform for environmentally and ethically sounds labels. The focus is on waste led design so all the brands either combat waste or are rooted in regeneration.
Would love to hear insight on peoples favorite brands that remain fashionable while being conscious. Looking to add more brands to my platform :)
Website for reference: https://www.shopzero.co/
Any leads would be appreciated!
I have been scouring the internet for weeks to find one.
Looking for in black, size medium.
Budget: Under $150.
MUST BE MACHINE WASHABLE.
Thank you!
I recently got a job at an engineering firm, and with summer coming I’m in need of a few more professional dresses for cute, comfortable work clothes. Think dark colors, conservative cuts, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions on brands or stores to purchase from?
Hey all - I made the decision to cut out meat awhile ago for the sake of the environment and now I'm ready for the next step with sustainable fashion (or even decision making). Curious if anyone is open to chatting with me for half hour on their experiences and tradeoffs and challenges, etc in this journey?
Full transparency, YES I'm trying to learn about behaviours to see if there are ways to incentivize and change consumer behaviour .... YES that is a huge task and YES it's hard to do but I figured talking to a few people where this subject was top of mind would be a great start!
Best brands for eco-friendly workout clothes? Preferably yoga style. Thanks in advance!

Just found out about this small business in the U.S which has really nice design and some impressive claims about sustainability. However, I couldn't find it on Good On You directory, albeit the brand has been 3-4 years old.
I’d like to spend some $$$ on a swimsuit that will last. I love that YouSwim suits morph to your body as your body changes, but I’m worried about how delicate/practical the fabric is for longevity and being active. Vitamin A suits are beautiful but they don’t have that changes-with-your-body appeal. Can anyone speak to these brands?
I'm trying to be make more sustainable choices when it comes to building a wardrobe. The facebook algorithm has yet to catch on, constantly bombarding me with shein ads. I don't want to purchase from them given how they contribute to the fast fashion cycle, but I know that a lot of their designs can come from indie brands or other stores. Is there any way to hunt down the original garment/designer in hopes of supporting a store that's not part of the fast fashion empire? I've tried reverse google image searching but I wonder if there's a website/instagram account/reddit thread that shows who the original designers are

Hello there,
I am really struggling to get participants for my survey for my university course. If you're aged 18-25 please take 2 minutes to do my little survey. Thanks!

Hi!!!
I am a travel photographer and writer. I recently wrote a piece on the benefits of shopping for used clothing while traveling. This article discusses the benefits not only for the environment, but also for the consumer, small businesses, and ultimately the health of the destination visited.Waste is produced like crazy while traveling and I believe that cutting out something as simple as wasteful shopping would do great good in cutting down our footprint. Let me know what you think.
