Looking for Linen!

Hi! I struggle to find brands that carry linen pants or dresses that aren’t of horrible quality. I’d be willing to pay a decent amount for decent quality, and more ethically made. With that being said, I do not have a $200 budget for a single item, but would still like recommendations. Unfortunately, my local thrift shops have all been filled with crap from shein, so I’ve had no luck there.

Summer Shopping!

Hello! I'm trying to find some tank tops for the summer. I like greens and browns, and pretty much anything nature-y. I've found a few places that I thing might be sustainable (Because Tees, Nature Backs) but haven't found much on these places specifically. I like to hike and am pretty outdoorsy, so I'd want something more durable, too. Does anybody know much about these brands specifically? Also, does anybody have recommendations or suggestions on places that have cute tank tops? Thank you!

Looking for natural fiber lounge..coat...thing?

Hey everyone,

I've been looking for a light coat/loungewear top for wearing indoors. I'm not entirely sure the design that I'm looking for other than to say I like the oversized hoodie style but I can't, for the life of me, find one that's natural fiber. I don't want polyester or other synthetic.

To that end, I've been trying to find someone similar or more like a coat style but since I'm not even sure how to describe exactly what I want, I haven't been able to find something that hits the mark.

So let's start here then, does anyone know of any oversized hoodie or bear hoodie type clothing made from natural fibers?

Does anyone know of a housecoat type garment made from natural fibers?

Thank you and sorry for being unspecific... maybe through this conversation I'll be able to quantify more of what I want.

Similar to Mata Traders and Passion Lilie?

I'm looking for places that have cotton dresses that are organic or in some way less poisonous than most clothing. I have a medical condition where I'm basically allergic to life so thrift shops are unfortunately not a good idea. Other brands I've had luck with include Cottonique, Blue Canoe, Indigenous, Mate the Label, and Maggie's Organics, but they don't have very many dresses, let alone pretty ones like the above. I'm super allergic to fragrances, including in laundry detergent, which is the biggest reason second hand isn't realistic for me. For whatever reason I had issues with Fair Indigo and Magic Linen. Actually I had some issues with a dress I got from Passion Lilie but it was modal so I'm thinking that may have been the issue, and eventually after enough washes it was fine. But Mata Traders was great.

Black leather shoes stain everything

All of my thrifted shoes (specifically black shoes) stain my floor with weird black goo whenever i walk. First it was my demonia high heels now some random gabora low heels i found at a fleamarket. The goo i thin but very hard to take off. I wore them at school and everywhere i go i stain the floor and feel embarrassed. Anyone knows why exactly it happens and how i can prevent it? Is it because of the shoe being unused/old/first sign of dry rotting?

Yesterday I watched a video called "How to Identify Quality in Clothing" and I loved it. I've been trying to find my own personal style and to buy less clothing, but the first thing I have to learn, in my opinion, is how to identify clothing that are actually worth my money and that won't fall apart after a year.

Let’s be real—taking Ls on SNKRS and paying insane resale prices is getting old. I just want to wear my favorite pairs without spending a fortune.

Lately, I’ve been looking into UA (unauthorized authentic) sneakers, and honestly, some of them are nearly identical to retail. The materials, shape, and even details like stitching are spot on. For sneakerheads who actually wear their kicks instead of just collecting, UAs seem like a solid alternative.

Can someone explain why brands mix organic cotton with elastane? Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of organic?

I see so many pants advertised as organic cotton. But so many of them are 97 or 98% organic cotton that is blended with synthetic fiber elastane. Shouldn't that disqualify the organic status of the garment?

Fashion Footprint tracker app - Any help/feedback appreciated

I am a fashion business student and completing my final project for college - looking for feedback on my idea!

My idea is to create an app concept that resembles a carbon footprint tracker but for fashion! It'd be called "Fashion Footprint". The apps goal is to bring real awareness to how each fashion choice impacts our own carbon footprint and adds to the overall downfall of sustainability within the fashion industry.

App features

The fundamental feature of the app would be its tracking system powered by AI. Users simply log purchases and a sustainability rating will be given and applied to the users overall sustainability status.

There will also be user incentives that are unlocked through completion of sustainable goals which aim to provide users the "how to" in making good fashion choices e.g Purchase one item with a 100% organic composition.

For engagement purposes and attraction I would like to incorporate already existing features in popular apps such as Spotify and TikTok.

I am planning to include a twist on "Spotify wrapped" but for the users' sustainable progress it'd be called "My Fashion Footprint wrapped". This feature would showcase stats and facts regarding each individuals contribution to becoming more sustainable through fashion.

I would also like to include a form of "For You Page" as seen on TikTok which displays educational and engaging content revolving around sustainable fashion.

In Search Of: Gothic, Victorian, Aristrocratic, Goth Lolita style clothing

So I have been trying to find clothing in this style for some time. I love how it looks but a majority of it, from the most well recommended brands within the communities, seems to be polyester

I have been able to find some cotton clothing in the following brands, some of which I bought and am in love with

Lolita: Yilia brand selling cotton clothing on 42lolita

Gothic: Somnia Romantica brand selling gorgeous handmade, one of a kind pieces on her website. FM2U Clothing selling gorgeous cotton clothing

Victorian: Lacemade has various pieces in Victorian style that can be styled in different ways. My favourites are made of cotton, often sturdy, thick, lined, etc just overall beautiful

The problem is, theres really only a f ew pieces available from any of these stores within either the style I want, or in stock. I would buy out all of Somnia Romantica if I could but it is usually all sold out :(

Other stores I know of, but not just quite the style I am looking for: Linennaive, I Do Declare Shop

A lot of sustainable brands seem to sell basics (obviously so), but I wish there was a place for alternative styles that used natural, sturdy materials that will last and don't look like a halloween costume, so I would lvoe recommendations!

Of course, I have asked for recs in the respective subs, but there is not much luck there

Trying to be better

I would love some advice from those of you who are more seasoned environmentalist:

1. i’ve become increasingly interested in buying secondhand through online shops (like Poshmark or depop). However, I have a few apprehensions. I worry that an item won’t fit me or I won’t like it when it arrives. My understanding is that we can’t make returns, so then I’m just stuck with another item of clothing that I have to find a way to sustainably get rid of. Kind of feels like it defeats the whole point… especially given all the carbon emissions related to the shipping process. if anyone could share their experiences and thoughts on this, it would be much appreciated.

2. What is the best way to sustainably get rid of clothes? in the past I’ve always given them away or donated them to thrift stores. But I have heard that they just end up in landfills if the clothes aren’t sold? I’m in the process of trying to downsize and be more minimalistic, which means I have a lot of clothes and I’d like to get rid of. Would appreciate some advice on this as well.

3. Lastly, I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on shopping secondhand versus shopping locally. I’ve been trying to be more intentional about supporting small local businesses but I’m wondering if shopping secondhand is the more sustainable alternative. Let me know what you all think.

Guest attire for summer wedding in the South of France

We're a 40-year-old couple attending a small wedding at a vineyard near Saint Tropez in June. I'm looking for a dress from a sustainable company that I'll be able to also wear for nice dinners elsewhere on our trip. What are your sustainable tips and tricks?

Hia, I need some help with some key questions and would love to hear your personal experiences about sustainability and your journey with sustainable fashion.

In the next few weeks, I am looking to host a live stream talking about the different avenues of sustainability, how to make small changes to get your foot in the door and habits that can be picked up to be more conscious of our individual impacts.

I have my personal experience and habits which I will be sharing along with my insights working for a sustainable small business. Favorite Kidswear Brands (available in Australia)

I am finding it hard to find good kidswear brands, especially for boys. My son is 8, so asking for him. I rarely am able to find anything good online, so I end up buying from Target or other similar stores. I've observed that these clothes are not made to the best of quality and they either tear or wear out quickly. And don’t even get me started on how fast kids outgrow everything. Responsibly Reinventing Your Style

I'm about to turn 30 in a few months, and I've finally gotten to a good place with my style.

After returning to work after maternity leave last year, I started to realize that my style preferences had changed as much as I had. I used to dress very feminine, with lots of soft flowy skirts and dresses. After some major life changes - including moving to a different continent, meeting and marrying my husband, and having a baby- my wardrobe was stuck in an older version of myself. I needed clothes that suited not only a new lifestyle (urban city dweller, lots of walking, both office work and childcare activities) but also the new self I became - more confident, mature, and even expressing a bit more masculine energy if that makes sense.

I also finally learned about my color palette and why none of the "basics" looked good on me (as a soft/cool/light with extremely pink undertones, traditional neutrals like black, white, and tan all make me feel terrible).

The biggest challenge has been how to embrace a new style while shopping responsibly. I was an early embracer of the slow fashion movement - I basically had a low-buy decade for my entire 20s. When I've bought things it was always secondhand. But my gosh, it's time consuming as a parent of a little person! I might only have a few minutes to myself each day and I don't want to spend it scrolling on my phone through secondhand apps.

Given the time constraints, I've resorted to buying things new. My approach has been to go slow, wait a few days to avoid impulse purchases, focus on the best quality I can afford, take turns buying items in different categories to make sure I can build full outfits, and use a wishlist to thoughtfully fill gaps in my wardrobe. I don't avoid trend items but I do make sure that it's something that has "emotional durability" (I've liked it for a while and I can see myself wearing for years). I even keep a list of clothing features I like (e.g. necklines, sleeve shapes, silhouettes) and another list of features which I always regret - which can help me make better impulse decisions when an item wasn't in my wishlist but I fall in love with it.

It's been tough to strike the right balance: I want to give my wardrobe permission to "grow up" with me, but I don't want to overconsume or fall prey to clever marketing.

Has anyone been in a similar situation - drastic changes in your personal style after big life changes? If so, how have you approached the process of transforming your wardrobe responsibly?

Countering greenwashing propaganda from the fur industry

I have noticed a lot of people on Reddit are falling for the greenwashing propaganda the fur industry pushes out there. Here are some resources to arm people with higher awareness of all the environmental problems the fur industry causes. But first, the issue of microplastics comes up a lot in this debate. Yet fur trappers don't walk to check traps. They drive. It takes 40 dead animals to make 1 fur coat and it takes setting a lot of traps over a lot of land to catch that many animals. The wear on truck tires to check those traps every day puts more microplastics into the environment than any garment ever could. The gas and oil trappers use to check traps also adds to the problem.

Mink and fox farms feed the animals meat. Since they lack the refrigerators to hold tons of feed, they get daily deliveries in 18 wheel diesel trucks. That makes the carbon footprint of factory farmed fur massive, and that's before we discuss the disposal of millions of animal carcasses (since no one eats mink or fox) and all the feces.

Alternatives to dr martens sandals?

When i look at dr martens alternative, i mostly find alternative for their iconic boots, but id like recommendations for the style of sandals they sell. I especially want to find something similar to their wrenlie grizzly leather fisherman sandals (i like the dark brown) and/or the dunnet flower full grain leather sandals (dark brown as well). Id like something thats good quality and will last me a long time, multiple summers, and of course id like them to be made respecting their workers. While id prefer them be made of leather for durability reasons, so long as they last im not particular about the materials.

Blanket/bedding recommendations needed

Hello all! What is the best non toxic place to buy blankets and/or bedding? I’m ALWAYS cold so I have a ton of thick polyester blankets which I would like to get rid of. I also have 2 kids that need new blankets, as most of their blankets are polyester as well. I have been looking at organic cotton cotton blankets, but they all seem too thin or they are the waffle fabric which I particularly am not a fan of, as I don’t think it’s very soft.

I would really like something that is thick and warm but also non toxic and healthy for young kids. Thanks!

Advice for creating a timeless wardrobe?

My goal is to have a wardrobe filled with pieces I will only get rid off when they are truly worn through.

I'm 23 female and would like to wear basic pieces that are compatible with an athletic/outdoorsy lifestyle, but I generally like to be able to just blend in with my clothing. I really wouldn't have any problem with being considered to have a boring sense of style:) But what really bothers me are changing fashion styles, especially with jackets and jeans/pants in general I feel like the trends shift so drastically every 3-4 years that I feel like I can't wear my former clothing without appearing as an unfashionable outsider.

How can I develope a more longlasting style?

I’m currently looking for a job in sustainable fashion, preferably a fashion brand that prioritizes sustainability and uses second hand materials to make garments/accessories. I’m located in California but I would love to relocate and make connections.

I have experience as a costume design assistant, costumes buyer, and stitcher at a professional broadway theatre. I also crochet using thrifted yarn and sew using old materials to reduce waste.

Amour Vert WON'T REFUND MY RETURN!!! HELP!!

Hi Everybody! I purchased two pants from Amour Vert on Nov. 29th and returned them sometime in December. I added the pics showing that the item was returned, and I must have gotten rid of the tracking number assuming the total amount would go back on my credit card.
Amour Vert SHUT DOWN and has NOT refunded me anything. I disputed it with my US Altitude Reserve Visa Card, and they are refusing to compensate me because I don't have the tracking number! EVen though I uploaded all these pictures clearly showing I returned the items and was not refunded anything. The only reply they received from Amour Vert was some shipping information, that's it. I don't even know who they managed to contact when every phone number and email and IG account I contacted numerous times were shut down soon after I contacted them. So sketchy.

Could someone remind me which mailing service they used(FedEx, UPS, USPS...) so I can try and track down this freaking package and get my money back?! I'm furious US Bank isn't siding with me in the first place after providing them my ignored letters and website pictures.

Not sure if I should report this to Better Business Bureau to try and get my money back somehow? It's well over $200.
