Recommend me brands!

Hi all! I got really into sustainable fashion a few years back and used to know a ton of different brands. However, I basically took the last year and a half off of shopping. Because of COVID, there wasn’t much need to buy clothes (not that there is ever really “need”). Now life is inching back towards normal and I am taking inventory in my closet to see what I’m on the market for. I’m still planning to incorporate the lessons I’ve learned from this past year - not buying just to buy, being mindful of what I purchase - but I am on the hunt for great brands to support that fit my style and ethics. I honestly either can’t remember many brands, no longer identify much with them anymore, or in my research, have discovered they are not as ethically or sustainably minded as I once thought they were.

Here are some general styles I normally enjoy - bohemian, 60s or 70s inspired, cottage core, colorful, outdoorsy, western. I’m open to lots of different avenues, but I will say that I’m not super into the clean, minimal, monochromatic style that’s super popular in sustainable fashion (love it on other people, but I don’t like it for myself). I feel like most if not all of the brands I am finding are geared toward that style.

Thought this would be a great place to ask away! Give me your recs!

Sustainable headwear?

I'm really just looking for hats. I keep my hair really short and gotta protect my scalp from the sun, but the overwhelming majority of hats seem like they're not meant to last for more than a year or two. I recently discovered Melin hats, which seem pretty great, but there's little-to-no information on their site about sustainability and they're pretty expensive, so I haven't bought one. Plastic snapbacks that get sweaty, itchy, and gross are not appealing, but that's most of what I see. Even Patagonia's hats seem that way.

Intention to buy second-hand clothes

Hello everyone! I'm writing my MSc dissertation on second-hand clothing purchase intention and environmental concern. It would help me so much if you could spare 8-10 minutes to take part in my survey! It's open to anyone who is over 18 years old and lives in the UK. You don't have to be a second-hand fashion enthusiast to participate. Thank you so much!

Emerging Sustainable Designers

One of my favorite websites is Apoc Store because of their assortment of emerging and unique designers. I’m really into the Distressed, Deconstructed and Subversive theme that a lot of their stuff have. Does anyone know any other fun designers that do similar types of clothes and aren’t offensively expensive? Thanks!

Sexy Sustainable Clothing Brands?

I've noticed that it's quite difficult to find 'sexy' sustainable clothing brands -- a lot of what is out there (that is also affordable) are mostly basics and relatively conservative clothings styles (I mainly shop at Everlane and Kotn). While I appreciate how affordable (for sustainable and ethical fashion brands) they are, I want to also boost my closet a little bit with more revealing and youthful clothing styles that are high quality but also sustainably and ethically sourced and produced.

I really love Reformation and try to buy them used online on Poshmark/Depop and such; however, oftentimes, they are too pricey for me.

I was wondering if y'all had some good experiences with any other brands that you may introduce me so I can support slow, sustainable fashion that also tailors to my style a little bit more than the basics I buy from Everlane and Kotn.
