Hey everyone! I currently need a couple of more participants in order to graduate. If you have a few minutes over, please feel free to participate. It's a short and sweet one about sustainable fashion advertising, no age or gender requirements and it is completely anonymous.
You find the survey via this link: https://uva.fra1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0cUQuEWOmIFOcV8
ISO sustainable brands that sell petite sizes or specialize in petite sizes. I particularly have a hard time finding dresses in petite sizes.
Hi everyone!
Was just about to post on Upwork/Fiverr but thought it might pay to post on here first.
I need some assistance with evaluating and collecting online retailers' sustainability claims, garment/factory worker empowerment initiatives, supply chain transparency, and whether they have a diverse and inclusive workplace.
The results will be used to supplement an app. I've already made a good start on some of the brands, so I'll be working with you!
I'm also very open to any new ideas about how to get the app prototype as slick as it can be - so if you wear a creative hat too that would be a plus.
An even bigger plus would be someone who has experience in UX design (but not necessary).
Please PM me if you're interested and your rates.
Thanks :D

Background:
I'm super passionate about utilizing tech and data to help with the fight against fast fashion. I believe in the power of people, technology, and data to fundamentally change the fashion world for good.
There's a lot of info out there. Good On You, ReMake, and other ethical brand directories have the right info but I still think it's not that consumer-friendly.
It's still so confusing for consumers who are new to sustainability (those who think "H+M Conscious" and "Zara For Life" are good purchases).
I think Maxine Bedat summarises it well: “We’ve gotten to a place where citizens know sustainability is something they should care about, but they are not informed enough to know what it means to be sustainable." She's the founder of New York-based New Standard Institute, research and advocacy group focused on the relationship between fashion and climate change.
Unlike food labels such as “organic”, which are regulated by western governments, “sustainable” is not a regulated term, leaving brands free to attach it to almost anything.
We need to support brands that are actively trying to create a better future by paying their garment workers fair wages and reduce their carbon footprint. We also need brands to speak about what they’re doing to reduce impact and be honest and transparent about how far they are going and where they need to go.
Got heels and two dresses for $25 today. It feels good to get what you need in a sustainable yet fashionable way :)
Zippers, buttons, miscellaneous notions and hardware. The thrift store is great for sourcing fabric, but I can never find quite what I need in terms of notions. Anybody know where I can source these items sustainably? Thanks!
Most sustainable brands either don’t have jumpsuit/rompers or they are these colorless, shapeless sacks. I’m looking for 1-2 all-purpose jumpsuits and would love recommendations! I’m in the US—thank you!
I have 1 basic tee from jcrew that I spent $20 on sale. It does the job, and I heard great things about them being sustainable. Is there any other tee brand I should check out that is under $20 and will last a few years?
I usually wear under armory shoes cause I have wide feet and they’re the only sneakers that fit. I bought crocs cause they were cheap, I don’t see how these can wear down? How long have they lasted you, thanks!
As y’all might know a lot of sustainable fashion is kind of plain. I’m looking for some fashion with unique cuts, colors, and prints that’s also sustainable! I like reformation a lot if that helps! If there are any that are unique and not as expensive as reformation that would be a god send 🙌. Thank you for your time!
I have heels and boots I used to wear to the office but going back after covid, things are more casual now. I am looking for COMFORTABLE and stylish shoes that will ideally last me a few years minimum (every pair of flats I’ve ever owned has lasted maybe a year but that could be due to a combo of buying cheap shoes and being notoriously hard on my shoes) I’m willing to invest in a solid pair or two that I can wear daily throughout the warmer seasons. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
Hey, y'all.
I made this website called Wearloom for me and my girlfriend, and figured you might like it too.
You enter the clothing items you want and we send you the best listings from eBay, Poshmark, and Depop. You can filter by size, brand, and price to find exactly what you’re looking for.
We’ve already helped many people find and buy the clothes they wanted for great prices (including my girlfriend). Hope you enjoy :)

Hi! New to this so hello everyone! I’ve recently started a sustainable fashion brand using second-hand materials/ damaged clothes to try and tackle the monstrous amount of waste produced by the fashion industry! I’m a first year fashion student studying in Manchester, England who unfortunately had to postpone my second year studies for a year due to covid so have been using this time to find out all I can about sustainable fashion and the industry’s effects on the earth. My business gives 10% of monthly profits to charities supporting women all over the world, and my website/Instagram is orientated around educating people on how to cut fast fashion and be more sustainable! I am currently in the process of making/building my stock up so I have nothing for sale yet but it would mean the world to me if some of you guys would check out my site/insta page!
I’ve come across quite a few that seem promising but only offer one neckline or one color etc. I am really hoping to adopt a “style uniform” i.e. the same shirt in 2 or 3 colors and in 2 or 3 sleeve lengths & necklines.
Hoping to spend under $40ish per item. I really like Jungmaven but their items are really more for casual every day wear, looking for something that fits nicely and would pair well with a cardigan.
Thank you :)
I've been digging into the data to compare companies, such as Nike vs. Adidas, on sustainability, ethics, diversity et al.

Are there any companies you'd like us to compare? :)
I'd like to introduce you to Linen Trail. A family-run slow fashion label from Kochi, India that crafts timeless 100% pure linen apparel for both men and women.
We have worked with the women of a 2000-year old tribe: "The Todas" based in the Nilgiris, India. We have successfully brought their age-old embroidery to our contemporary linen-wear . The garments from our Toda collection have been hand-embroidered by the women of the Toda, this has generated work and remuneration for the women in the tribe. Proceeds from the sale of the garments in this collection also go to the self-help group of women which is used for weddings in the community.

Hi guys,
Sorry to ask this but I wrote some sewing instructions for a zero waste dress pattern and I would like to ask if you could have a look at them and give some feedback.
This is used for my thesis, other than your name (username or other fake names) no information will be asked. this to make sure it remains as private as possible. I'm okay with replying on the site or underneath this message, whichever is better for you :)
Thank you in advance
Basically, I've noticed that half this sub is now surveys, so I figured I'd do a different kind of post.
I buy a lot of my clothes second hand, and then I modify it with my sewing machine. Anyone else here loves to thrift shop and sew? It's a really great way to be creative, get cool clothes, save money, and be sustainable.
I also get sick of clothes easily, so it's cool to be able to change what I already own into something new and exciting without having to buy.
Also, I'm looking for advice on what to do with clothes that are just torn and not suitable for upcycling. I've stuffed some pillows with scraps, but would appreciate any more ideas!
Hii!

Women’s activewear has exploded in popularity over the last few years. There’s a huge range out there that looks great, like our high-tech women’s sports activewear like coloured yoga pants online. Women's activewear should do more than just look good; it should be able to support your body properly and make exercising easier. But did you know that the women’s activewear you buy online may be harmful to your health?
We'll look at a few health benefits of wearing the right activewear for women online in the post below, as well as why it's important to do so.
Skin Breathes
We all know that exercising is good for us; it keeps our bodies in good shape and can even help us improve our mental health. You also sweat when you work out. Sweating is your body's way of regulating temperature and most importantly, detoxing your body.
Working up a sweat indicates that you are pushing yourself in your workout, which is very healthy and rewarding. That does not, however, imply that we must exercise with sweat retention every time. Our activewear helps the sweat to evaporate, keeping your body dry.
Women’s Activewear Online Can Aid In Recovery
Wearing the right activewear can support your body while also making your workout more enjoyable. Could it, however, really help you recover after a workout? It isn't as far-fetched as you might believe.
Compression clothing applies pressure to your body, stabilising the muscle and reducing the amount of muscular vibration that occurs during exercise, such as the shock that runs through your legs when jogging on a hard surface. These vibrations build up over time and cause muscle fatigue, which can make your legs feel wobbly and weak, affecting your performance.
Wrapping Up
We are frequently told as women that we must choose between fashion and function. Women's activewear, on the other hand, must do more than just look good. When you're working out, you need to feel supported, safe, and at ease. Finally, what you wear has a significant impact on your body, performance, technique, and recovery time— and can have long-term consequences. Find activewear from Ecofit Sports that fits your needs and your body, and you'll notice a difference in your fitness routine and your life right away.
I like Gaala Paris and I’m looking for some more dress brands that are similar. I can’t really find any so it would be helpful if anyone knows any suggestions! Thank you!

I was curious about the relationship between toxins from my clothing and my Siamese Terry, and came across this podcast that was super informative. It's random, but there are podcasts for everything. Had no idea that my lint waste could be so polluting. Here is a link to the podcast if you are a curious cat like myself.
I lost weight and ended up with a bunch of jeans way too big for me. Mostly skinny jeans with fashionable holes in them. I could give them to a charity shop but I’m worried no one will buy them / they will end up in the bin. I looked on YouTube for ways to upcycle them but I don’t know how to sew so I’d probably ruin them and have to bin all the scraps. What should I do?

Wherever you look, nature's palette has created an endless array of colours that can be used to design your own unique clothing brand. Naturally dyed fabrics are an eco-friendly method of producing radiant colours within a clothing range. Unlike synthetic dyes, natural fabric dyes are non-toxic, non-polluting, environmentally friendly and do not cause allergic reactions.
What are Natural Fabric Dyes
Natural fabric dyes are created from plant material, crushed in water and boiled to make a dye bath or pot. Then a pre-moistened fabric is added to the natural dye.
Most natural fabric dyes are vegetable-based, derived from plant sources such as roots, berries and leaves. Most natural fabric dyes produce a beautiful pastel colour when used with the right fabrics and with the correct preparation.
Characteristics of Natural Dyes
With newfound technology, natural dyeing has progressed to achieve levels of colour fastness to light that has previously only been seen with synthetic dyes. This has also expanded the selection of colours that are becoming available with eco dyeing.
Due to the nature and preparation of plant-based fabric dyes, it’s almost impossible to recreate the exact colour in different batches. This produces some degree of colour variation and uniqueness. Colours can vary depending on how much fabric is used and the type of fabric used.
Some plant colour will require a very small amount of chemical bonder called a ‘mordant’ to help bind the colour to the fabric. Each mordant also extracts a different colour from a plant extract. Ideally, organic fabrics are the best to use with natural dyes as synthetic fabrics take a lot longer for the dye to bind.
Always Trendin and Natural Dyes
We're excited to be sourcing natural dyes as a sustainable option for our customers!
As a commitment to a sustainable fashion industry, Always Trendin can manufacture garments from naturally dyed fabrics. At Always Trendin, we break barriers into the fashion industry to make it easier and more cost effective for you to create your dream clothing brand. Fast turnaround times, low MOQs, ethical and sustainable practices are just a few benefits of partnering with Always Trendin.

Hi there!
I am currently studying a masters at London College of Fashion and I am trying to explore this current paradox of consumers pioneering for changes within fashion (in terms of social and environmental issues) while appetite for consuming (fast) fashion is greater than ever. I am interested to understand whether a new technology; crypto-currency block chain technology is able to bridge this gap.
I guess, if you’re into fast fashion, sustainability and even crypto-currency block chain I would really appreciate you filling out my questionnaire. Please note that you don’t need to anything prior to the survey about block chain technology, the survey is mostly to do with fashion consumption. The survey should not take longer than 5 minutes to complete (including reading the intro).
Thank you so much, your help is much appreciated! :)
Hey there!
As part of a project for our university entrepreneurship course, we were tasked with coming up with a business idea and decided that we should focus on this field. After a couple brainstorming sessions, we came up with the idea of Re(source), a platform that would facilitate the process of finding and selecting sustainable suppliers for small business in the fashion industry. To support us in better understanding the consumers that we would potentially serve, we created a survey that would help gather some responses.
If you are an owner, employee, or simply a friend of someone who has a small business in the fashion industry, it would be greatly appreciated if you could fill in this 5-min survey or share it around!

Also, if you are an owner of such a business and would not mind being interviewed, please reply directly to this post and I will reach out!
Thanks!

I purchased the Vintage Crew and the Daily T-shirt, disappointed is a good word for it.
They both fit great the first wear, the material of the vintage crew was heavier (more like a work shirt), but as described. I LOVED the daily tee when I first put it on, great first impression. I washed both once per the directions, the vintage crew shrunk quite a bit and no longer fits me and the Daily tee totally lost its shape. Also, the daily tee - EVERYTHING CLINGS TO IT. Lint, dog hair, I was constantly lint rolling this thing throughout my one wear.
Overall, not a great purchase and would not recommend. I’m currently trying to see if I can still return as I’ve already washed them, otherwise they’ll be donated. It is disheartening to purchase from a brand with such great values and received what, IMO is fairly low-quality stuff. A PSA for anyone considering it.
Sustainable fashion is in my blood now, but it hasn't always been. I've shopped from Supré. I've ducked into Kmart for a quick essential. I've been lured into Zara for a last-minute glitzy weekend number. I've even rummaged through the sale racks at H&M and enjoyed it.
I've bought fast fashion in the past. No one is perfect. But when I started to learn about the impacts of fast fashion, modern slave labour, and the environmental devastation that throwaway clothes are responsible for - I put myself on a fast fashion diet. As I always say, 'Once you know, you can't un-know', and when I went down my research rabbit hole, it was way too deep to come back from. At the bottom of that research hole, I decided to be more conscious, to have a positive impact, and to make better choices, but it's been a constant journey - and not always an easy one.
If you're new to the ethical and sustainable fashion conversation, I want to empower you to know that you can make a difference. I also want to remind you that we all start somewhere, and it's never too late to change your wardrobe habits. It doesn't matter if you've only just heard the term 'sustainable fashion' for the first time; you're heading in the right direction just by reading this post and becoming more aware.
Understanding sustainable fashion can be overwhelming; I get it. Sometimes you don't know where to start or what brand to believe, and when every second research project touts a different fabric as the newest and most sustainable, it's hard knowing what's sustainable and what isn't.
So, I wanted to share my top five tips to help make sustainable shopping a little less complicated. They're the pillars I use as a conscious consumer, and they're easy to remember too...

How can I recycle old t shirts, and even stuff like old undergarments so the cloth can be reused? The only thing I got was that Marine Layer will accept old t shirts and recycle them to make new clothes. Anything else that does this? Esp with undergarments that you definitely can't donate. Any other companies that accept them to recycle? And I don't want to reuse all of them by making rags and totes and stuff because I have enough rags and totes haha.
I appreciate any suggestions!
Hey, I’m back again! Would anyone who is between the age of 18-40 please fill in my form for my college project! Hey!
super new recycled brand here! we use damaged and unsellable vintage levis, lee and wrangler jeans then turn them into bucket hats.
feel free to check us out.
Hi friends. I'm considering starting an etsy store for handmade sustainable clothing. Its important to me that its eco friendly but I'm having trouble with materials. I'm using reclaimed/upcycled thrift store fabric which is working fine, but when it comes to things like buttons, zippers, bias tape, etc. Im still buying these things direct from the store so I wouldnt feel right calling my clothing sustainable or eco friendly if the bias tape I use to finish the hem is 100% polyester - not sustainably sourced. Thoughts? Should i just not use what I can't sustainably source? Thank you!
Hi fellow crafters,
I am interested in using the above materials to make bags and wallets. Has anyone worked with these materials and have any advice for me?
Hi all,
In honor of National Textiles Day being this past week, we were inspired to share why we think it's so important for linen to begin to make up a larger portion of the overall textile picture (<1% right now).
Specifically because linen shines in many of the areas that more common fabrics continually face issues, like environmental impact, durability, & ethical production.
For those interested, you can check it out here
Cheers and have a good weekend!
Anyone who can recommend any sustainable brand for clothing?
Here in Greece, there is GSASport, a brand that has great sustainable products, however not a variety of them.
Any sustainable apparel for Europe or US but with low cost shipping?
Thanks in advance
Hello everyone !
Does anyone have any recommendations for a brand/company I can buy wholesale T-shirts and hoodies from that is environmentally friendly AND has a moral track record? I was about to order from Los Angeles Apparel but found out that the CEO is the same guy from American Apparel who has a long history of sexual misconduct.
Thank you in advance !
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to start a discussion about recycled polyester. Do people think it’s acceptable to use for an organic/sustainable brand?
I’ve read a lot about the process of recycling it impacting the environment and releasing microplastics etc. but on the other hand it’s increasing the lifetime of the already used polyester.
I am just interested to hear the community’s thoughts!
Thanks so much

In the course of my bachelor thesis, I am conducting research about sustainable fashion consumption behaviours. I'd love to hear from you about your shopping behaviour and your attitude towards fair fashion. This will help me make a contribution to the existing marketing strategies of fair fashion brands. The survey should only take 5-10 minutes, and your responses are completely anonymous.

Hi everyone, I am doing a project on sustainable fashion focused on creating multi-functional clothing products in order to lengthen the lifespan of items to minimise fast fashion.
I am currently exploring into who would be the target market that these products should be aimed at. I.e which age groups, income groups, countries, humanitarian fashion / which groups of people would be interested / if these products would even be popular etc.
If anyone has any thoughts to share then that would be highly appreciated! :)
Hi everyone, I am doing a project on sustainable fashion focused on creating multi-functional clothing products in order to lengthen the lifespan of items to minimise fast fashion.
Does anybody have any suggestions for PRE-EXISTING SUSTAINABLE FASHION CLOTHING ITEMS / MULTI-FUNCTIONAL CLOTHING ITEMS i.e. clothing items that incorporate technology?
If anyone has any thoughts to share then that would be highly appreciated! :)
My friend and I are working on a one stop shop for sustainable and ethical goods across many different categories that feature alternatives better for you, the environment, and your wallet. Still in the works but check it out here: doonebetter.today
For example, I was looking at sustainable basics. The only companies in my price range that I liked was this "great" brand (according to Good on You) based in Australia and a "good" brand based in the U.S. Since I'm based in the U.S., is it more ethical to shop from these "good" and "great" brands based in the U.S.?
For anyone who wants to know what the brands are: it's Mighty Good Basics based in Australia and Knickey based in U.S.
Does anyone have good book suggestions about sustainable fashion? I want to learn everything I can because I am about to launch a website for my own products and I want them to be 100% sustainable fashion!
I'm looking to keep my waste as low as possible, but I've found that I have some niche fashion interests which often aren't met by sustainable brands. Shopping second hand seems to be the best solution, but my understanding is that some materials create waste through simple wear and tear, such as by releasing micoplastics into the environment, and I'm not exactly sure how best to determine how "clean" certain materials are, so any help you can offer on this front is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
Just need to rant today cause I am DONE.
I had been looking forward to ordering a pair of jeans from a sustainable jeans store for a looong time. They looked perfect and I had my geared myself up to spend 120 euros on them as soon as they got back in to stock. I double checked my waist, hips and inseam measurements at least twice so that I wouldn't have to do any returns because the store charges 5 euros for shipping and another 5 euros for returns.
Finally, I ordered the jeans in size 27/30 and low and behold, they're way too baggy and look ridiculous on me. To size down and order another pair of jeans, I'd have to pay another 125 euros for new jeans + shipping (which btw have no guarantee in being the right fit) and make sure I do it in time before the 30 day return period ends.
I never thought buying a classic pair of blue jeans would result in this level of stress and disappointment. I totally get that stores don't want people to overbuy and return unnecessarily but this experience has left me sour and stressed out.
Never shopping at online sustainable stores again, you just don't know what you're going to get and you'll be punished for trying to return clothes that don't fit right - you know what that results in? Wasted and unwanted clothes in our wardrobe which I thought was exactly what we were trying to avoid when thinking 5 times about a purchase and NOT going fast fashion.
Sometimes, I can see why fast fashion is just easier. But I will now spend my weekends rummaging through charity shops and second hand stores in search of my perfect jeans. 3 months in from deciding to buy a pair of blue jeans and no end in sight.
