Sustainable fashion consultants/designers - what's your biggest time-suck with compliance & reporting?
I'm researching pain points in the sustainable fashion space and need your honest input.
If you do sustainability reporting, EU compliance work, or eco-impact assessments for brands/clients:
What part of the process makes you want to pull your hair out?
Is it:
- Gathering fabric/supplier data?
- Calculating carbon/water footprints?
- Creating reports clients actually understand?
- Keeping up with changing EU regulations?
- Something else entirely?
Not selling anything - just trying to understand if there's a real problem here worth solving or if I'm chasing ghosts.
Would genuinely appreciate 30 seconds of your time. Thanks!

Learning the Challenges of Launching a Small Sustainable Brand
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share my experience trying to start a small sustainable clothing brand. At first, sourcing ethical materials and finding reliable factories felt almost impossible. I spent weeks emailing different manufacturers, requesting samples, and stressing over minimum order quantities I simply couldn’t meet as a small operation. On top of that, understanding lead times, quality control, and shipping logistics felt like a full-time job in itself.
During my search, I came across a platform called ꓢһорꓟаոtа that connects smaller brands with established factories. What really stood out to me was how it helped simplify the process, everything from refining tech packs to coordinating production was made more manageable. It also highlighted how transparency in pricing and working directly with factories can make a huge difference for small brands trying to scale responsibly. I realized that even as a small operation, it’s possible to access the same high-quality factories that big brands use, which gave me more confidence in keeping my products sustainable without cutting corners.
Even with tools like this, it’s still a learning curve. There’s a lot to consider, materials, certifications, ethical labor practices, and minimizing waste. But being able to get guidance and some structure early on has made me feel like I’m actually moving in the right direction rather than just spinning my wheels.
I’d love to hear from others here: how did you handle sourcing for your sustainable fashion projects? Did you find ways to scale ethically without huge budgets or sacrificing quality? Any tips, mistakes, or lessons learned would be really helpful for someone still figuring this out.

Why handcrafted goods struggle in India: we don’t value the artisan enough ?
This might be uncomfortable to say, but I think it’s a core issue holding back India’s handcrafted goods market.
Unlike countries like Japan or the USA, where artisan value itself is respected and priced into the product, the Indian domestic market largely evaluates handcrafted goods only on utility and price.
In India,
“Handmade” often means why is it so expensive?
Craftsmanship is expected, not rewarded.
Time, skill, lineage, and cultural depth rarely translate into higher willingness to pay.
Ironically, the same handcrafted products often sell better overseas—where buyers actively look for:
The maker’s story
Traditional techniques
Imperfections as proof of authenticity
Limited production, not scalability
Here, the first bottleneck isn’t supply, skill, or heritage.
It’s demand-side perception.
Mass-manufactured goods have trained us to:
Compare everything to factory prices
Negotiate down artisan work
Treat crafts as souvenirs, not value assets
Until we:
Teach consumers to distinguish craft from commodity
Build strong artisan-led brands (not just “cheap ethnic decor”)
Respect labor and time the way we respect gold weight or brand logos
…the domestic handcrafted market will remain constrained, while exports thrive.
Would love to hear:
Do you think this mindset is changing with younger buyers?
Is price sensitivity the real issue—or lack of storytelling?
Why do we celebrate “Made in Japan” craftsmanship but hesitate to pay Indian artisans fairly?
Looking forward to perspectives—especially from artisans, designers, and buyers.

Sustainable// high quality bras 34G+
As the above mentions, im looking for a sustainable, natural fibre bra that caters for G+ cups. Ideally looking for UK brands so I can try them without too much stress of returns.
Alternatively, a high quality pretty bra that stands up to the reviews and heavy lifting.
I am very rigorous with research before making a purchase so appreciate any suggestions that will lighten the work load 🫶

Anyone feels like trade-offs are unavoidable when you’re just starting out?
I see a lot of conversations around sustainability framed as all-or-nothing, but starting small rarely gives you that luxury
But i feel like when you’re early, limited budget, low order volumes, unpredictable demand push you to less ideal. That doesn’t mean values don’t matter, but it does mean compromises exist.w Am I the only one who feels like this? I don't know how to think about it without losing sight of my long-term goals T^T

How PLM Speeds Time-to-Market in Fast Fashion
Fast fashion lives and dies by speed.
Most delays don’t come from production. They come from confusion in product development.
Common problems teams face:
- Scattered Excel files
- Long email threads
- Outdated tech packs reaching suppliers
- Too many sample iterations
This is where PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) actually helps.
What PLM Does in Simple Terms
PLM brings design, tech packs, costing, timelines, and supplier communication into one shared system.
Everyone works on the same information at the same time.
No version confusion. No rework.
Where PLM Saves the Most Time
1. Faster Design Decisions
Instead of sharing designs through emails:
- Designs, feedback, and approvals live in one place
- Merchandising and sourcing teams can review instantly
This reduces design approval cycles by days.
2. Tech Packs Update Instantly
Without PLM:
- Every change creates a new Excel or PDF
- Suppliers often work on old versions
With PLM:
- Measurements, BOM, and colours update once
- Suppliers always see the latest version
This removes errors and speeds up vendor handover.
3. Teams Work in Parallel
Traditional flow:
Design, then sourcing, then costing, then production
With PLM:
- Design, costing, and sourcing happen together
- Everyone sees updates in real time
This removes waiting time between departments.
4. Sampling Takes Fewer Rounds
Sampling delays slow everything down.
PLM helps by:
- Clearly tracking sample status
- Centralising feedback and revisions
- Reducing miscommunication with vendors
This shortens the sampling cycle significantly.
5. Faster Supplier Communication
Instead of emails and attachments:
- Suppliers access specs, dates, and updates directly
- Changes are visible immediately
This leads to faster responses and fewer misunderstandings.
6. Early Cost and Margin Visibility
Late cost surprises cause delays.
PLM allows:
- Live BOM costing
- Cost impact visibility during the design stage
This enables faster go or no go decisions.
7. Clear Timelines and Accountability
PLM tracks:
- Critical path
- Delays and bottlenecks
- Ownership at every stage
Problems are identified early instead of at the last minute.
The Real Impact Teams See
- 20 to 40 percent faster time to market
- Fewer sampling iterations
- Less rework and fewer mistakes
- Better supplier alignment
TL;DR
PLM speeds up fast fashion by removing confusion, duplication, and waiting time from product development.

Which brands pays their workers a fair wage?
Hello :)
I hope it's not too much of a stretch to ask this here but I would like to know which brands/designers pay their workers (thinking about the people who sew the stuff) a living wage. I found it rather difficult finding information on that since most brands don't disclose this at all or pretend they are the most environmentally friendly brand ever.
Anybody got reliable information?
Especially among the pricey brands like Lagerfeld and such.
Thank you~

Fitted and petite - any brand suggestions?
Sorry if the title is confusing! I’m trying to find some sustainable brands that fit my needs but I have some trouble, as it seems like most brands I find are either very flowy, loose light fabrics, maxi dresses, etc. or else like formally tailored (like black tie formal). I really would love to find something in between!
If it helps, I’m a Kibbe Soft Gamine. So that means lots of high neckline (no scoops or v-necks), sleeves are kinda fitted at the ends (wrist, 1/2 sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, or whatever). Skinny/form fitting ankle pants are the best pants. Skirts have to be no longer than right at my knee (I’m a bit petite so I always look for mini skirts, as knee-length is always lower). Dresses with waist definition, like fit and flare, are also really nice. Everything should be fitted so I’m not drowning in fabric, but like not so corporate and crisp if that makes sense.
I love dark and light academia, but also take a lot of inspiration from early seasons Blair Waldorf. However, I also wear a lot of like casual streetwear (crop top, cargo pants, boots).
I find a lot of brands have a fixation on maxi dresses, flowy fabric, or deep v necks… things that just look kinda bad on me! I also don’t want to look too matronly, just put together and intentional.
Does anyone have recommendations for brands that could fit this?

Do you know any European brands where I can buy the same socks consistently?
Edit: (European as in "can buy from the EU, or Spain specifically", the brand itselft doesnt need to be european)
Lately I have been throwing a few sock pairs to the trash because once one gets torn, I don't have any other that matches it (not just colors, but feel. I have tried using non-matching socks and I loathed how each felt differently, not to mention how stupid different color socks look), and every time I couldn't find the same sock pairs to buy again, so now I'm trying to just find some socks I can buy consistently so, if one sock breaks, the other sock of that pair can replace a different sock in the future and so on.

Found an app named StunX to solve our problems
Hi Community,
Everyday I use to think what outfit I can wear but everytime it caused me a confusion because I always forgot what i weared previously and there are many of my dresses still unused in my closet.
To solve this I went to playstore and searched for closet management apps,I tried some apps, but all these apps lack UI and simplicity. After a long time, I just came across an app randomly named StunX,I installed and just tried it.
But now with StunX app, I have automated my entire closet.I track my used items, unused items, schedule my outfits for the entire month. This app is really useful. You can even ask AI to generate outfits and find missing items in your closet. This app has sustainablity features too.
All this helped me solving my daily outfit problems and saved me lot of time.I just wanna suggest you this good app because it genuinely solved my problems.
P.S. This is not a paid marketing post,I found this StunX app genuinely useful, so I recommend here.

I’m trying to decide if a rubber slide like luofu slippers fit into a more mindful wardrobe. It’s practical but I keep wondering about the long term impact of items like this
I’ve been trying to build a more mindful wardrobe, and one thing I didn’t expect was how often small everyday items raise the biggest questions. I’ve got a pair of luofu slippers that I use constantly, and I first noticed them while browsing around on Alibaba for basic home items. They’re practical and surprisingly durable, but I keep thinking about how they fit into a sustainability mindset.
They last longer than softer slides I’ve owned, which feels like a win. But they’re also made from materials that don’t break down easily, so I’m unsure how to evaluate their overall impact. It brings up that tension between longevity and recyclability that shows up a lot in this community.
Clothing gets most of the attention in sustainable fashion, but daily-use footwear matters too. Something worn hundreds of times a year can carry more impact than a shirt worn occasionally. I’m trying to figure out whether the best approach is choosing long lasting synthetic pieces, switching to natural alternatives when possible, or simply buying fewer items overall.
Curious how others weigh these trade offs. How do you handle practical but not-so-eco pieces that you use every day?

I’ve been helping a few early-stage founders set up sustainable production, and one pattern keeps coming up: everyone struggles with different parts of the process. Some hit supplier issues, some get stuck on sampling, and some find the materials side harder than expected.
I’m curious what the community here experiences most. For anyone who has tried starting (or is thinking about starting) a sustainable fashion label:

What I’ve learned sourcing readymade apparel sustainably from India over the past few years
I started working more closely with manufacturers in India, mostly because I kept hearing that the ecosystem was changing fast. I wasn’t expecting much at first. I thought “sustainable sourcing” automatically meant high MOQ, high cost, and long lead times.
But the reality on the ground surprised me. The biggest change I noticed was accessibility. Recycled cotton blends, Tencel fabrics, and organic knits were no longer “special order only.” Small to mid-sized brands the kind with very modest volumes, were actually getting taken seriously when they came with clear specs and a proper tech pack.
It’s not perfect everywhere, but the progress is real. For instance, many online sourcing platforms take care of the end-to-end sourcing process. Sharing this because I know a lot of independent founders assume India is too complicated or too pricey to consider.
My experience has been the opposite: when the brief is clear, India can be one of the more approachable places to build a responsible supply chain. Would love to hear if anyone else has had similar (or very different) experiences working in the region.

Help me! I want to buy shoes but I have enough pairs I KNOW I DO. But I always need “ one more”
Lately I’ve been trying to consume less, this mindset is new to me. I’ve officially made a vision board with sustainability photos, basic outfits like a white shirt and jeans etc. I’m really really trying! Especially now that I have a son, I want to set an example of why it’s important and beneficial to be mindful with spending, buying, consuming.
However I fall into the cycle of wanting to buy new shoes or clothes because “ I need one to complete my closet and I’ll be good” but I’ve found myself doing this several times now. I DO shop good quality things, so they last longer. Eg. Merrell shoes for work cos I would want them to last awhile + be comfy. Expensive but I am certain the quality will last me years.
But honestly, how do I stop this. I’ve deleted social media to stop this cycle and find myself back on this track. I also WANT TO SAVE MONEY! Please help me with how you shift your perception or build a mindset. I’m new to this and this whole thing is humbling me so much.

The Digital Apparel Revolution Is Here, and 2025–2030 Is Gonna Flip Fashion Manufacturing Upside Down
The fashion industry is about to go through the biggest glow up it has ever seen.
And no, it is not about trends or aesthetics. It is the entire manufacturing engine getting rebuilt in real time.
If you work in design, sourcing, production, merch, buckle up.
The next 5 years are about to get wild 👇
1. 3D Design Is About to Kill the Old Sampling Process
Say goodbye to 12 rounds of physical samples and endless courier delays.
Brands are shifting to:
- 3D concepting
- Digital samples
- Virtual approvals
You will make decisions faster than your team can say “Where is the proto?”
2. Factories + Brands Will Work in ONE Connected System
The email + Excel nightmare?
It is ending.
Real time updates.
Live order tracking.
Instant compliance reporting.
Less chaos, more control.
The brands that digitize their supply chain early are going to run laps around everyone else.
3. AI Is Becoming Everyone’s Silent Coworker
Not sci fi AI, practical AI.
By 2030, AI will quietly handle:
- Delay predictions
- Demand forecasting
- Material planning
- Capacity optimization
- Spotting errors in tech packs
Basically, AI will do the boring stuff so humans can make better decisions.
4. Sustainability Will Be Data, Not Marketing
Governments are done playing.
Traceability laws, carbon rules, reporting mandates, all coming in fast.
Now it is about real numbers:
- Actual carbon scoring
- Waste tracking
- Material traceability to fiber level
No more greenwashing. Only receipts.
5. Mass Customization Is the New Normal
On demand manufacturing is finally becoming profitable.
Nearshoring and digital workflows make micro batches possible at scale.
That means:
- Smaller MOQs
- Faster drops
- Less deadstock
- Higher margins
In simple terms, produce what sells when it sells.
TL;DR
2025–2030 will completely redefine apparel manufacturing.
Not in theory. Not eventually.
It is happening now, and the people adapting early will own the next decade.
The fashion supply chain has been due for a facelift, and this one will change everything.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get a chemise?
Would love to find some chemises to be a barrier between my dresses and my body but all I can find are shift dresses that are meant to be outer garments instead of under garments, and chemises made for historical reenactment with necklines up to your ears

100% natural underwear
Hi guys, I came across this brand via their ads called CEDR. They offer 100% natural fabrics underwear for men. I ordered from them a few months ago, and I’m very happy with the feel and shape of them. They’re a bit expensive, but I guess it’s what you get for 0 synthetics. So far, they’re the only brand I’ve found that offers a 100% natural alternative that look and feel good. I just wanted to share that with you, as I’ve been looking for some 100% natural underwear for quite some time before finding them.

Trying to find cozy postpartum clothes made from natural fibers, need recs!
Hi everyone, I'm pregnant for the first time and desperately seeking comfortable and cozy clothing for pregnancy and postpartum. Are there any materials that can feel soft and cozy that don't cost a ton of money? What kind of fabric can feel soft, flexible, and cozy without being wool or cashmere or some kind of synthetic? ❤️ Thanks in advance for your help!

Recycling underwear
I buy 99% of my clothes second hand. With the exception of my underwear 🙃 I’m seeing that the take back bag isn’t that’s great/truthful. I tried it once it was meh. Who are we using instead of old socks and undies ?

How to Create a Minimalist Wardrobe
A minimalist wardrobe is simple, functional, and filled with pieces you actually wear. Start by clearing out items that no longer fit your lifestyle or style. Keep only clothes you feel good in. Choose neutral colors that mix and match with ease. Invest in timeless basics like a white shirt, quality denim, and a classic blazer. Pick versatile shoes that work with multiple outfits. Focus on quality over quantity so each piece lasts longer. Finally, organize your closet in a way that feels calm and easy. A minimalist wardrobe saves time, space, and brings clarity to your daily routine.

natural slippers europe
I’m looking for all-natural (including soles, excluding leather) pair of slippers. Every pair I find has some form of plastic in them. Preferably they won’t be too warm. Bath slippers, sandals, flip-flops, anything really to walk around the house. Do you have any suggestions? I’m fed up with brands claiming it’s 100% natural only to write “recycled plastic” in the description.

Leggings with a curved yoke?
I'm looking for workout leggings that are as natural fiber as possible (doesn't have to be 100% natural fiber, just mostly). I am specifically looking for leggings with a curved or rounded yoke in the back, like in the picture. Or any yoke shape that is NOT just straight across. So far the only ones I've found are these from Happy Earth. Has anyone come across any they can recommend?
