Pyjamas for Winter Time

I'm looking for pyjamas that are made from natural material and help to balance body temperature. I have a cold body type, however, in the night I tend to heat and get dehydrated, while also feeling cold at the same time. I wake up in the morning feeling dry, flushed cheeks and groggy. Merino wool seems to be good for keep warm in the cold and cool in the heat - can anyone vouch for this? Any tips would be appreciated

How Are Fashion Brands Embracing Regenerative and Circular Practices Beyond Sustainability?

I keep seeing ads about businesses rebranding themselves to include sustainability, regenerative, and circular practices, especially in the fashion industry.

In this year’s Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week, the focus will be on green fabrics, sustainable fashion and textile recycling.

Here’s what I think: Reducing waste is one thing, but moving towards methods that give back to the environment or ensure materials are continuously reused is an entirely different challenge.

For clothing brands, that could mean redesigning entire production processes, from sourcing to manufacturing.

For those working in the industry—whether as manufacturers, managers, or sustainability officers—what are your thoughts on moving beyond the banner of sustainability?

How feasible is it to adopt regenerative or circular methods in practice, and do you see some leading brands taking steps in this direction?

I'd love to hear the challenges and opportunities you’ve come across in making this shift.

Plus size brands?

I am looking for plus size store recommendations online and/or in person (I’m in Colorado, USA). I’m a women’s size 1X. I am looking for non-toxic materials, such as those made of natural fibers like cotton, bamboo, hemp, etc for example.

My personal style preferences: nothing high waisted, I wear a neutral or lower rise.

Facing issues finding sustainable fashion brands that match my style and closet. Is it just me?

Hey everyone, ( Reflecting my curiosity through this post)
There are a lot of SMBs (small to medium size businesses) that sell sustainable fashion. But I always have a couple of challenges and wanted to see if anyone else resonates with these thoughts and how you currently navigate through them.

  1. It isn't easy to find brands that you can trust, there is "good on you" and similar platforms, but usually, it takes a lot of time to scroll through every brand.
  2. For me, sustainability is extending my wardrobe and buying what I need. But I find it hard to buy what I need and style outfits accordingly.
  3. How would you bring confidence in your purchase? Knowing yes this will last.
  4. I have tried indyx but I ended up shopping for fast fashion brands looking at the recommendations and styles.
  5. Does anyone share the thought that the entire process is overwhelming and time-consuming?

How do you handle your unworn clothes?

Hey everyone! πŸ‘‹ I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how much stuff is just sitting in my closet, unworn, taking up space. It’s kind of crazy when you realize how much we accumulate, right? πŸ˜…

But here’s the thing—we can actually turn those forgotten pieces into something awesome! Instead of letting them gather dust, why not give them a second life by selling or swapping them? ♻️✨

I recently discovered Starluv, an online marketplace that makes it super easy to list your clothes, and the best part? You can shop second-hand fashion from the comfort of your home. Whether you’re cleaning out your closet or looking for unique thrift finds, it’s such a cool way to be sustainable and help reduce fashion waste!

So, here’s what I want to know:

  • How do you handle your unworn clothes?
  • Do you sell, donate, or repurpose them?
  • Any great tips for getting into second-hand fashion or making extra $$ from it?

Let’s talk about how we can make our wardrobes more sustainable, and share your best thrifting and reselling tips!

Is fashion on-demand a viable option for you?

Hello everyone,

As widely known, overproduction is a huge problem in the fast fashion industry. Studies indicate that 30 - 40% of the globally produced clothing (15-45bn pieces) is discarded unworn, ending up in landfill or incinerated. I think everyone has seen pictures of textile-waste mountains in the third world. That is a huge waste of resources.

Producing clothing on-demand (made-to-order) is a solution to mitigate the problem of overproduction. Interestingly with the breakdown of the global fashion supply chains during the covid-pandemy this production model was discussed as future alternative (like in Forbes). Today the fashion industry is back in business as usual and fashion on-demand is used in a niche by some labels. I am testing this business model myself at the moment with a crowdfunding campaign for classic jeans sustainably made in the EU.

The drawback of the make-to-order model is the waiting for production of typically 6-8 weeks. Is for you personally fashion on-demand a viable option with the waiting time?

Found a great app to shop sustainable brands

Hey! I’ve become obsessed with the Choose app and wanted to share about it…it’s a shopping app that only has small, independent shops on it, all on some level of sale (seems to usually be about 20% off retail). The brands featured rotate out every week or so. Shipping is usually free or very nominal.

It’s not just women’s clothes on the app (I’ve bought way too many wooden toys off there now from kids brands), but plenty of great sustainable fashion brands. I’ve discovered a lot of brands I had never heard of on there and now I’m in love with. The orders ship directly from the brands, not the app. The only thing to keep in mind is that if you’re shopping the European brands from the us shipping can be quite slow.

Some of the brands currently on sale are: made by good karma, la petite alice, wilder, favorite people, hernest project, les sublimes, rooted botanics, rujuta sheth, reifhaus, raechaels closet, fairechild, bocage, reistor, garden of she, intentionally blank, oh seven days, etc, etc…The simple folk goes on next week, too.

Definitely recommend checking it out! I also have a referral code (I also get a discount if my code is used, full disclosure!) for $20 off your first order over 40 - the code is CHICKADEE

Buying clothing to last years with an ever changing body?

I've always kept clothing as long as I can, but being a kid/teen, I obviously outgrew things - as an adult, I have various conditions that mean my body size and shape change frequently, as well as sensory issues that change.

My question is: how do you buy good quality pieces to last years when you have a body that changes so much that you've never been able to wear clothing for longer than a year or 2 before it no longer fits?

Men's natural fabric V-Neck T Shirts in vibrant colors?

I'm looking for a good quality natural fabric V neck in nice vibrant colors. Every single organic men's v neck that I find is either black, grey, navy, off-white, or olive.

I've checked out FairIndigo, but the color selection is boring.

I've checked out Pact. I love their colors, but I tried ordering a shirt from them and the quality is abysmal. I'm 100% confident that it's going to fall apart within the year.

I've tried Rawganique. I like their colors and the fabric, but the V is uncomfortably deep. Feels like I'm wearing a cleavage shirt.

Any other recommendations? I'm pretty close to resigning myself to replacing Pact shirts every year or so.

I do visit thrift stores every couple weeks when I have time, but I rarely find basic V-necks in 100% natural fibers.

Can sustainable fashion be fun and exciting and stylish

I have been researching consumer behaviour around sustainable fashion. Although many of us desire to shop sustainably/ Responsibly, we struggle to translate this into action. Specifically, GenZ and Millennials are highly influenced by social media and trendy fashion. The discussion regarding the gap between intention and actual behaviour has been going on for a long time. We have multiple marketplaces, and several brands, pushing transparency and traceability. although, the ethical consumption of sustainable fashion is growing, but marginally, as compared to fast fashion brands. My biggest question is how can we make it fun, easy exciting and focused on creating value for the consumers?
I was also wondering that, yes people care about transparency, traceability, brand values/ practices and price is a huge pain point. Are there any other factors affecting the low consumption of sustainable fashion brands? Are brands not able to satisfy our needs?

Just a curious thought!

Revolutionizing Fashion: How ACIEN Blends Tradition with Regeneration

Alright, fashion lovers and eco-warriors, let’s dive into something I’m super passionate about: regenerative fashion. Yeah, you heard me right—this isn’t just about being sustainable anymore. I’m talking about brands like ACIEN that are flipping the script by not just reducing harm but actually healing the planet. 🌍

Think biodegradable garments made from pineapple and nettle yarn, hand-dyed with bacteria (yes, bacteria!) and invasive plants, using techniques passed down from Andalusian ancestors. This isn’t your typical "greenwashing" BS, it’s next-level stuff. 🌱✨

So here’s my question for you all: Can fashion really be a tool for regenerating ecosystems? Is this the future of fashion or just a niche trend? Let’s talk about how we can push the industry forward, beyond just reducing our footprint to actually giving back to the earth. πŸ›€️πŸ‘—πŸŒΎ

Where’s the affordable plus-size options??

I’m gonna say something and some of y’all are gonna be mad.

I am tired of the lack of affordable plus-size options in sustainable fashion.

Every plus-size seller I have bought from in the past five years is now labeled as “fast-fashion.” I’m doing my best for the good of the environment, but as a college student I can’t pay $100 for one pair of pants. So until people either start making a change for plus-size folks and include us in the conversation for a change in the fashion world, I will be buying from companies that accept my size for what it is at the moment, including Torrid and Amazon.

Plus-size people are people. Include us, and don’t charge us $100 for necessary items.

Avoid Jan 'N June if you're not in Germany

Great that they're sustainable and everything, but if you live outside of Germany, good luck returning anything. The clothes are also thin and flimsy, not anything to shout about.

I purchased S$300 worth of clothes in Feb this year (I'm in Singapore) and tried sending it back not just once but twice, spending more than S$150 in the process. I sent it back with Singapore Post the first time, but thought maybe Singapore Post wasn't reliable enough so I went with DHL the second time round.

But both times the items were held at the German customs, then returned to me. Apparently it's a German customs thing? I don't know what it is with the German customs, but even though I'd clearly indicated that this was returned goods in the customs declaration and attached the invoice (as advised by their customer service), the parcel still didn't manage to clear their customs. I even put the Jan 'N June customer service in touch with the DHL Germany staff to get the clearance but even that didn't work. So now the parcel is on its way back to me.

This whole thing has taken 7 months, and I think I'll never see my money again. I don't know why they can deliver to Singapore but they're unable to advise me on how to return their goods to Germany. At this point I feel like I've wasted too much money to try again. I should have just given up after the first time.

But I feel they're not warm enough for stronger winters, so I was wondering if someone knows a store that have jackets with similar elegance because honestly, I am done looking like a trash bag in winter. xD

Thanks for reading!

How common are carbon offsetting programs in large businesses?

Hey, guys!

I was wondering if there’s a way to measure total carbon offsets, particularly for large scale business.

I recently had a client mention their company's offsetting program, where they track the environmental impact they make and try to balance it out at the end of each fiscal year. And it sounded pretty unrealistic to me.

Here’s the thing: I get that reducing the impact from the start makes a lot more sense, but offsetting seems like an option too.

So, I am actually curious to know how many companies actually spend money on this? Like, are businesses out there taking real steps to reduce the impact they've already made through their operations?

I know a lot of the focus is on sustainable practices, like using fewer resources or going green from the beginning, but I wonder how widespread offsetting programs are in practice.

If you know a company who is doing this (or even thinking of doing it/advertising about it), please mention their names below.

Any leads help!

Another market research: use AI to make sustainable fashion cheap and effortless

Hi folks!

Wanted to distribute this market research survey for a Startup (https://www.virtuai.me/) that want to pivot in making using AI to make ppl’s life in sustainable fashion easier, such as scenario shopping with brand filtering and and style recommendations, as I see the long lasting issue limited style in sustainable brands, with thrifting/second hand matching feature. https://forms.gle/qSF9zJozp8dqXF2i6

Just got scammed by a seller on Vestiaire—what are the most reputable reseller platforms these days?

I was excited to receive a cashmere sweater I’d ordered on Vestiaire; it just came in the mail and I’m so disappointed—it contains NO cashmere, and is filled with holes that the seller seemingly tried to patch up but which are extremely obvious. There were no holes in the photos, and the seller listed it as cashmere. The sweater is unwearable and not what I agreed to purchase πŸ˜” I’ve raised a claim with Vestiaire—let’s see if I get refunded.

1) Has anyone else gotten scammed on Vestiaire? Did they refund you? 2) I’m now less inclined to use this resale platform. I hate Poshmark because it feels super spammy and I don’t like the interface, I haven’t tried the Real Real or Vinted. What legit platforms are you using for resale, that has good buyer protections?

Sustainably made clothes for kids

Hey everyone, what are some brands who make sustainable clothes for kids, that you bought from? I'm looking to steer away from buying from the likes of Target and KMart for my kids and am wondering where to start.

Understanding the Challenges of Implementing Sustainable Practices in Business

Hey everyone
I’m currently studying Environmental Studies and am in process of researching the challenges that brands face when incorporating sustainable practices into their business models. I'm particularly interested in understanding the specific issues companies encounter—whether it's related to sourcing sustainable materials, adapting production processes, meeting regulatory requirements, or aligning with evolving consumer expectations.

Additionally, I'm exploring the key moments when brands realize they need expert assistance and in which areas this expertise is most crucial.

If your company is working towards sustainability, I would love to hear about your experiences. What were some of the biggest hurdles you encountered? At what point did you decide to seek out expert consultation, and in which aspects did you find this guidance most valuable? Your insights would be incredibly helpful for my research. Thanks a lot in advance.

Thinking of turning my travel coin collection into something. Any ideas?

I’ve been collecting coins (basically just spare change I don’t use) from all of my travels. I have quite a few duplicates and thought I’d make something out of them!

At first I thought of maybe a charm bracelet but I wonder if that might be too heavy on the wrist. Then I thought of maybe putting them into little pockets in a sourced plastic, see-through material (maybe a recycled shower curtain) to make a bag, wallet, or purse out of.

Any other ideas?

Where to send old jewelry

Hello! I have been trying to clean up my space for some time now and I do not like throwing things away. I always try to find places where I can donate clothes or recycle old clothes if I think no place will take them as a donation. But the big thing that has me stuck right now is getting rid of my old jewelry. It’s not all in the best condition, and most of it I don’t wear anymore. Does anyone know a place that will take old costume jewelry to be recycled or repurposed? Kinda like how madewell recycles their denim.

Is online thrift marketplaces better than stores?

I’ve been buying second hand goods for a while now. From furniture to clothes, and it’s been really great, tbh!

Lately, I’ve been on a hunt to find second hand items that were produced ethically and sustainably in the first place.

It’s all about creating demand from the bottom up, and I really believe in my individual effort to do that.

How about you guys? Do you think brick-and-mortar stores are better than online marketplaces for secondhand goods or the other way? And I wonder always when shopping online, how do you ensure you’re getting quality items that align with your sustainable values, if you have any?

Personally, online thrifting has always been a big gamble for me. While I’ve found some amazing deals, I’ve also encountered items that weren’t as described.

What game plan do you use to find quality items online? any negative experiences with online secondhand shopping?
If you know of any reliable sources for secondhand items from ethical and sustainable brands, please suggest.

Thanks in advance.

Eco-friendly pouches / small bags?

I'm developing a product with a central value on ecological impact - not just "sustainable", but actually supporting ecological restoration, as a central value integral to the product itself.

The sticking point for me is the bag that holds it. It needs to be about 4" by 3" (approximately), preferably a drawstring bag or other easy access non-zip non-button bag. It should feel high-quality but also be durable.

And, importantly, I need to be able to buy them wholesale with custom logo printing for, say, less than $5 each at large scale.

Organic cotton is widely available but not inspiring to me from an ecological angle. But I haven't found any organic hemp or organic linen or organic bamboo linen or tencel, etc, that is being used to make small bags.

I did find some nice loosely woven sisal bags sold as soap bags, but they're too loose to take a logo. Cork would be ideal for me but I haven't found the right fit.

Anyone have any insights or suggestions, about materials and/or where I might find a supplier?

Thanks πŸ™πŸŒΏ
