Sourcing sustainable basics in China?

Hi r/SustainableFashion,

My partner and I are in currently in the early stages of creating a sustainable clothing brand. This is something new for us. We have a fulfillment centre in China who handles product sourcing and logistics for our other brand, who will also be handling fulfillment of these products.

At first, we thought hemp clothing would be a good idea, however, we have found that it is now banned in China, and so it's no longer an option. We're here to ask you what alternatives would work best when designing a clothing brand that is based around sustainability. If hemp is not an option, what would you recommend?

Insight into what we should be looking for will be super helpful, both for us and our fulfillment agent.

Thanks!
