I'd like to start wearing more sustainable clothes, but I don't know where to start, and it's all very overwhelming

I'd like to buy some quality long-lasting clothing, like a few nice timeless pieces. Everything is so expensive though, and I'm worried I'll buy something and it will be just as cheap and see-through as all women's clothing, but with a high price tag.
