My partner and I were offered 100% GOTS-certified Supima cotton as a potential material, but it's not "organic". I'm a little confused as to why it has the GOTS-certificate, if it's not organic?
Is the certificate enough to warrant sustainability for us? "Organic" Supima cotton seems to be really difficult to find and is expensive. A textile engineering professor at my university said that the GOTS-certificate is fine and that the Supima-label is generally a good guarantee of quality.
Unfortunately we were unable to find unbiased articles about it online, so we'd appreciate all input on the matter. Thanks!
