What is sustainable fashion anyway?

I have more questions! The title is the general idea of this post.

I do see there is no point in buying so many clothes when all you have to do is cover your body and look presentable A few months back I was very much into buying apparels that were branded. I’d buy anything and everything especially if it was cheap.

So how do you check which brands are sustainable? Are expensive luxury brands sustainable? Is sustainability only up cycling and thrifting? What is the point of sustainability? Can someone please make a list of brands that definitely not sustainable and need to be avoided at all costs? What makes a brand sustainable?
