How to get rid of the strong metal zipper smell?

I had my zip replaced, but the metal smell is horrible. I’ve tried getting rid of it with baking soda, vinegar, and soap. It's a bit better now, but the smell is still strong. What can I do? I don’t want to replace it with a plastic one, but I can’t stand the smell.
