Where to find cottage-core decent quality pajamas?

Everything I come across is either super expensive (and when I look into reviews not good enough quality/make to be worth it), or it’s some dropshipped fast fashion pretending to be decent quality and a scam. And thrifting is unsuccessful.

Styles I’ve liked have been on sites like:

Romantic fairytale

Ever lasting fabric

Ownkoti

High Horse- I read reviews that suggest it’s not even quality or very sustainably made fabric

I want to feel like a little whimsical borrower or Victorian storybook mouse being tucked into bed at night. Does anyone have any recommendations? Does anything like this exist? :(

Brands that make new clothes out of secondhand fabrics? Alternative to secondhand clothes?

In the past few years, whenever I need new clothes, I always buy secondhand because I know there are already too many clothes in the world. Unfortunately there's no physical secondhand shop where I live, so I buy on Vinted.

The problem is that most of the time, the clothes I buy on Vinted don't fit well, even though I always ask for measurements. I can technically wear them, but the fit is wonky and/or uncomfortable. I "solved" this by buying oversized and wearing my partners clothes, but I really need to look more put together at work..

So I'm hoping to find good clothing brands that recycle old clothing, and have a return policy so I don't end up with a ton of clothes that don't fit. Preferably in Europe.

New Years Resolution: Be More Sustainable

Hi, everyone, I'm new to this subreddit and I made it my New Years resolution to be more sustainable (particularly where clothing is concerned). I like to knit and handsew (I don't have a sewing machine) so I'm doing what I can to elevate the clothes I have. The clothes I feel I cannot improve, I'm looking to sell instead of throwing them out. I'm shopping in local thrift stores and online ones like Thredup and the Goodwill shop for new clothes that are my style and made from natural materials. I've seen a few videos online of how to upcycle or shop sustainably and I read Megean Weldon's book, "An Almost Zero Waste Life." I'm looking for any advice anyone can give me since I'm new to this, especially when it comes to shopping sustainably for shoes which seems to be my biggest hurdle so far. I'm trying really hard to stick with this but it's really hard not to get discouraged when you see an item of clothing you really like but it's 100% polyester and was made by people working for slave wages in sweatshops. Anyway, I'm excited to be a part of this community and to do my part to reduce the waste on this planet.

Genuine question about stage outfits & sustainability

Hi!

I’m currently researching how sustainability is perceived within performance and stagewear, and how it might influence the experience of live performances.

I’d love to hear your thoughts — there are no right or wrong answers, just honest perspectives.

  1. When you hear that a stage outfit is made from reused or deadstock materials, does that change how you perceive it? Why or why not?
  2. Would knowing that an artist’s outfit was designed to be reused or adapted influence how you experience a performance?
  3. Do you know what usually happens to stage outfits after a tour or performance cycle ends, and what do you think should happen to them?
  4. Does it matter to you if an artist actively supports sustainability through their visual expression on stage?
  5. What does “high-quality performance-wear” mean to you, both visually and functionally, and do you think sustainability can exist without reducing its impact?

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts.
Your perspectives are incredibly valuable and help shape new ways of thinking about performance, fashion, and sustainability.

Avoid NAMARIE!

Like so many other people, I've been waiting 6 months for my order.

- They delete comments from Instagram so we're not able to warn other customers

- They don't reply to emails

- I'm pretty sure they lied about the website saying it was a "preorder" Absolutely wouldn't have bought it as a preorder.

- They constantly email you trying to sell you on more product

- If your item never ships, the "start a refund" button isn't available to you

- If too much time goes by, you wont be able to dispute the charges with your credit card company

- They send a bunch of bs emails crafted to tug the emotional heart strings, really they are engaged in illegal business practices of keeping our money hoping we forget and give up. Even if some customers receive a product eventually, the insane delays mean they basically get free business loans.

Does anyone have experience reporting them to the BBB or FTC?

Hello, I’m working on a school project about the rise of low-quality clothing and how it affects consumers. I’m collecting personal experiences as informal research.
If you’ve had issues with clothing wearing out quickly (e.g., seams ripping, fabric pilling, shrinking, losing shape, broken zippers), I’d really appreciate hearing what happened what item it was, where you bought it, and how long it lasted.

If you’re looking for premium & sustainable women’s clothing, don’t miss this 😭

I don’t usually post about brands, but this one honestly deserves it.

If you’re someone who is tired of fast fashion and actually wants premium, classy, long-lasting clothes, you NEED to check this out.

I found this brand called House of Mantra and their collection is just
The fabric feels premium, the designs are super elegant, and the best part it’s sustainable, not that fake “eco” marketing stuff.

It’s one of those sites where you keep scrolling and go like:
“Okay… this is nice… wow this is also nice… damn this too” 😅

Sharing before it becomes too mainstream 👀

If you’re searching for premium & sustainable women’s clothing, this is 100% worth checking out.

Finally, a full AR glass that might fit the aesthetic. RayNeo X3 Pro rumored launch next month

Everything in AR/VR is either bulky or looks like cheap plastic. I've seen the RayNeo X3 Pro photos, and the design is sleek. It's got the full-color, dual-display true AR tech, which is a major leap over smart glasses like Even G1 and Meta RayBan Display and Snap Spectacles, but it looks like a real piece of eyewear. If the frame has the right weight and finish (rumors say aerospace-grade alloy), this could actually be the first smart glass that integrates with a proper techwear look instead of ruining the fit. Fingers crossed for the November drop

Khadi isn’t a fabric — it’s a process. Here’s what actually goes into it

I recently started working closely with khadi artisans and realized how misunderstood khadi really is.

Khadi isn’t a material like cotton or linen—it’s a process.

It starts with hand-spun yarn (usually cotton), which is then hand-woven on a loom. No electricity, no mass production, and no shortcuts. One meter of fabric can take hours, sometimes days, depending on the yarn count and weave.

What surprised me most was how this process affects the fabric itself: • Breathable in summer • Insulating in winter • Stronger over time instead of wearing out

It’s slower and definitely not “perfect”—but it carries human skill in every inch.

Curious—what’s one thing you’ve always wanted to know about khadi or handloom fabrics?

Why “verified supplier” means very different things depending on where you’re sourcing

One thing that trips up a lot of buyers early on is the phrase “verified supplier.” It sounds reassuring, but in practice it can mean very different things depending on the platform, the country, and the industry. In some cases, “verified” just means the company exists and paid for a listing. In others, it might mean export history was checked, documents were reviewed, or a factory visit happened at some point. The problem is that most platforms don’t explain what was actually verified. From a sourcing perspective, the details matter. Verification that’s useful usually includes things like: – whether the supplier actually exports (and to which markets) – whether they’ve produced the same product category consistently – whether compliance documents are current or just once-off – whether capacity matches the buyer’s order size Without that context, buyers end up assuming a level of safety that may not exist. Over time, I’ve found it’s better to treat “verified” as a starting point, not a guarantee, and then look closely at what sits underneath that label.

Looking for volunteers for a 10–15 min research project on what’s broken in fashion

Hi! I’m a college student working on a research project about what’s broken in the fashion industry, especially around sustainability, sizing, pricing, and trust.

I’m doing a few 10–15 minute Zoom interviews to understand:

  • what frustrates people when buying clothes
  • what feels misleading or broken
  • what you wish fashion brands did better

If you shop online, thrift, or care about ethical/sustainable fashion and are open to a short conversation this week, comment or DM me “interview” + your timezone and I’ll message you a few time options. If you don’t have time for a call, I’d also appreciate any thoughts you want to share in the comments. Thanks so much!

ESG Implementation Guide: Priorities and Best Practices from 5 Years in Sustainability

After working in corporate sustainability for half a decade and helping implement ESG frameworks at companies ranging from mid-size manufacturers to Fortune 500s, I wanted to share some insights on what actually works versus what looks good in presentations.

Start with Materiality, Not Buzzwords

The biggest mistake I see is companies trying to do everything at once or chasing whatever ESG trend is hot that quarter. Do a proper materiality assessment first. What environmental, social, and governance issues actually matter to your specific industry and stakeholders? A tech company’s priorities will look very different from a mining company’s, and that’s fine.

Quick Wins vs. Long-Term Transformation

You need both. Quick wins like LED lighting upgrades or basic recycling programs build momentum and get buy-in. But real ESG impact requires systemic changes to how you operate, like redesigning supply chains, overhauling compensation structures to include ESG metrics, or fundamentally rethinking product design. Don’t mistake the former for the latter.

Data Infrastructure is Unglamorous but Critical

Nobody wants to hear this, but if you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it. Invest in systems to track your metrics reliably before you make bold commitments. I’ve seen too many companies announce ambitious targets and then scramble to figure out their baseline emissions six months later. It’s embarrassing and damages credibility.

Governance Isn’t Sexy but It’s the Foundation

Everyone wants to talk about carbon neutrality and social impact, but governance determines whether any of it actually happens. Board oversight, executive accountability, transparent reporting, anti-corruption measures - this is what ensures ESG isn’t just greenwashing. Make someone senior actually responsible, with compensation tied to outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement Means Actually Listening

Talk to your employees, customers, investors, and communities. Not just to check a box, but to genuinely understand their concerns and incorporate feedback. Some of our best ESG initiatives came from frontline workers who saw inefficiencies and risks that never made it to the C-suite.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

  • Treating ESG as a marketing exercise rather than operational reality
  • Copying what competitors do without considering your own context
  • Underestimating the resources required for legitimate implementation
  • Making commitments without clear roadmaps to achieve them
  • Ignoring the “S” and “G” while only focusing on environmental issues

What’s Actually Moving the Needle

In my experience, successful ESG implementation requires executive sponsorship, cross-functional integration (not just a separate sustainability team), regular reporting to the board, employee engagement and training, and transparent communication about both progress and setbacks.

Would love to hear from others who’ve been through ESG transformations. What worked at your organizations? What would you do differently?

India has thousands of sustainable products for export — but why does no one take the road less traveled?

India probably has one of the richest collections of heritage products in the world — handicrafts, GI-tag goods, traditional textiles, antiques, natural materials, indigenous techniques, you name it.

Yet when it comes to exports, most people seem to chase the same few categories, same markets, same models.

It makes me wonder — is the real challenge really about demand and viability, or is it about:

  • longer learning curves
  • slower scale
  • lack of clear playbooks
  • regulatory fear

or simply the discomfort of doing something unconventional?

The irony is that global buyers often want authenticity and story-driven products — exactly what these heritage items offer.

So why do you think so few exporters choose the path less traveled?

Is it risk, mindset, ecosystem gaps, or something else entirely?

Would love to hear thoughts from exporters, buyers, or anyone exploring niche businesses.

I don’t throw around “buy it for life” lightly but after years of trial, error and customer service run arounds, there are a few brands that have actually earned my long term loyalty.

Patagonia: Whoever has shopped from them would add them to their list. Their gear lasts forever and when it doesn’t, they repair or replace it with zero issues. I’ve sent in jackets I clearly abused and they still took care of me.

Red wing: Expensive up front but my boots have outlasted multiple cheaper pairs. Being able to resole instead of replace makes a big difference. They’re the kind of boots you buy once, maintain and keep wearing for years (great for outdoors)

Levi’s: Not perfect but when you find a cut that works, it lasts. I still have pairs that are years old and holding up better than most newer “fast fashion” jeans.

Firmoo: I wear prescription glasses every day so they’re a huge part of how I look but I’ve never loved spending a ton of money on them. That's why, years ago I switched to online eyewear. A year ago, I ordered glasses from firmoo and screwed up by putting in the wrong PD. Thought I was stuck with them but they exchanged them super easily (free of additional cost) and their support was answering to me at all times. That kind of customer service is rare now especially for online glasses so they have earned repeat business from me.

Mejuri: Stylish and well made without exorbitant prices. Their pieces hold up beautifully over time. My everyday rings and chains haven’t tarnished or looked cheap even with regular wear and the price point is way more accessible than fine jewelry.

Not saying these are perfect brands for everyone, just ones that have held up for me. Interested to hear what brands people here actually stick with after years of use.

Closet full but still wearing the same few outfits — how do you deal with this?

I’m trying to be more intentional about sustainability, but I keep noticing that I default to the same 5–6 outfits even though my closet is pretty full.

Do you track what you actually wear? Or do you just mentally rotate things?

Genuinely curious how others deal with this without buying more.

LUCY AND YAK - Re:YAK experience

Hello everyone, I just wanted to share my experience with Lucy and Yak - it's a positive one.

Over the years I have bought numerous pairs of Alexa trousers, dungarees and tops. But because their patterns are quite... out-there let's say. They get kind of old! I had NO idea until last month that I could actually return anything from their shop in ANY condition (one of my trousers had a hole in them). This is really cool because their seamstresses works on the damaged garments, upcycling and repairing products into beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces that are then again, resold in their stores.

The Re:YAK scheme is genuinely positive because it allows customers to send clothes back in any condition, keeping textiles out of landfill and closing the loop on garments that would otherwise be waste..

I returned and received back:

2 x trousers = £10 voucher each

1 x dungarees = £20 voucher

The actual process was really easy. You can go through on the website to register for re:YAK and they send you a shipping label. The only thing is I had to pay for a bag to ship the items in. Which isn't too bad I guess.

THE CATCH:

You can only spend one voucher per shop. Which was kind of annoying but I understand it.

The other thing as well is you have to spend a minimum of £60... so the incentive structure still nudges people toward over-consumption and encourages customers to buy more than they may actually need just to “unlock” the reward. I found myself ordering more than I needed to in their end of season sale just to get up to £60 so I could use my voucher.

And.. so I find it shifts the focus from waste reduction to just repeat repurchasing, which kind of undermines the sustainability message? What do you think?

A more genuinely circular and low-consumption model could look like this:

Stackable credit (e.g £X credit per kg or per batch of returns) rather than per item vouchers.

Overall my experience has been positive..
Re:YAK tackles the end-of-life problem well, but the reward system still operates within a growth driven retail model which I feel goes against their values. True sustainability would reduce pressure to buy again, not disguise it as a reward? What do you think!

Lined wool trousers

I'm looking for some black or dark brown 100% or almost 100% natural fiber (wool) trousers that are lined (the COS ones give me a rash..). Or at least soft enough that they won't give me a rash. Do you have any recommendations? Everything I find has polyester or is not lined...

Teva Platform Sandal Review

I have been wearing Teva platform sandals for a while now, and I wanted to share an honest take. I like sandals with platforms because they give a bit of height without feeling like heels. These stood out because they still feel like walking sandals, not dress shoes.

The first thing I noticed was comfort. The straps feel soft but strong, and my feet do not slide around much. I can walk for long periods without pain, which surprised me. The platform looks thick, but it is lighter than it seems. I wear them for short errands, long walks, and even travel days.

What I also like is how simple the design is. They work with shorts, jeans, and even casual dresses, which makes them practical. I have seen similar platform sandals while browsing different places online, including Amazon and even some product listings on Alibaba when I was just looking at design styles. Many look alike, but the Teva ones feel more balanced and steady.

One thing that matters to me is sustainability. I like that they feel durable enough to last, which means less replacing and less waste over time. I got mine locally, which helped a lot, cause I had to try them, especially because sizing and fit really matter with platforms.

Overall, they feel like a good mix of comfort, height, and daily use. I am curious how others feel about them long term.

Switching to Bareroots Footwear for everyday comfort

My sneakers are worn out and I’m tired of ending the day with sore feet. Bareroots Footwear keeps popping up with their “all-day comfort” ads. Has anyone made the switch for daily wear? Did you feel an actual difference?

Is paying extra for “clean” and ethically-made clothing actually worth it?

I’ve been going down a rabbit hole lately about what actually goes into our clothes not just how they look, but the fabrics, dyes, and who’s making them. The deeper I go, the more I realize how different fast fashion is compared to brands that talk about safer fabrics and ethical production.

Part of me really likes the idea of buying fewer things that are made well and don’t fall apart. But when I look at the price tags on some of these brands, I genuinely get stuck. I keep wondering whether I’m paying for quality, or just a nice story. If you’ve moved toward ethically-made or “clean” clothing, did it honestly feel worth it? Did anything actually change for you in terms of comfort, durability, or peace of mind? Or did it feel like marketing after a while? I was browsing and came across a brand called *Arotagas *that focuses a lot on toxin-free fabrics and small-batch production in LA. I haven’t bought anything yet, I’m more curious about how people here think about brands like that in general. Are they doing something meaningful, or is it mostly branding?

I’d really love to hear real experiences, good or bad. I’m trying to figure out whether spending more on fewer items is actually smarter, or if I’m just overthinking it.

This Winter has made me realize how ridiculous Linens Thermoregulating properties are

I bought some Flax Sox from Amazon, they are thin stretchable ankle socks and noticed that when I wore them my feet stay warm like significantly warm. When I wear regular medium thick cotton socks though, my feet feel cold. Like it’s a HUGE noticeable difference night and day. The crazy part is the linen socks are super thin like super duper thin. Someone needs to really make thermal sets top and botton utilizing linen because it is amazing how well it regulates temperature. The beauty of it is a fabric is when it gets hot it also keeps you cooler. So it’s just an all-around superstar fabric.

Why are jeans bad for the environment? Is it better to buy secondhand jeans or new ones made sustainably?
