Looking for made to order/ customised clothing brands
Hey all, I have to attend a friend’s wedding in September. I wanted to get some dresses made. I am looking for something that is unique. So does anyone know any brands or designers that do made to order or do customisations? I don’t want big brands I am looking for the smaller ones.

are linen sheets comfortable?
I’m moving away from my partner for a three year grad program and need new sheets (my apartment bed will be smaller). I am 50 and have hot flashes, body temp fluctuations, rheumatoid arthritis, and sensory issues. Currently we sleep on percale weave cotton sheets. They’re kinda of pricey. Are linen sheets comfortable? I wear linen clothing’s without too much trouble but sleeping — especially in hot and humid southeastern Louisiana — requires me to stay cool.
Anyone have experience with linen bedsheets they’d like to share? Thanks!

Would you ever buy a hand-styled secondhand piece monthly? Curious what others think
Hi all! I’ve been toying with an idea and would love feedback.
I love styling, thrifting, and upcycling, and I’m thinking about offering monthly curated pieces — kind of like a micro fashion drop, but everything is secondhand and reworked with a designer/stylist touch.
Not a business or brand yet — just testing the idea with 5 people this month to see what works.
Would you:
- Be interested in something like this?
- Want to see the item before paying, or prefer a surprise based on your style?
- Think ~€60 ($65) is fair for a styled piece + shipping?
- Have ideas on how to make it more fun or unique?
Really appreciate any thoughts — even if it’s a “not for me.”

Going out tops
Has anyone found really great quality tops for the bars/dates? I’d love some all cotton or linen or at least 95% blended tops that i can wear to those occasions. The kicker is most of the time i feel like they’re loose and boxy and i want something sexier and fitted, backless, low cut, etc

UK-Based Fashion Brand Owners & Brand Experts - Research Interview Request
Hi everyone,
I’m working on a research project that explores the question: "Is ethical marketing in UK fashion genuinely transformative or just a tool of elite branding?"
I'm looking to speak with UK-based fashion brand owners and brand experts (particularly those working in sustainable or purpose-driven fashion) who can offer insight into how ethical marketing is practiced—and perceived in the real world.
The research tackles big questions around class, access, regulation, and whether sustainability is becoming a luxury performance instead of a shared responsibility.
If you’re open to a short interview or want to know more, please DM me. Your experience would be invaluable.
Thanks in advance!

What should I do with my peeling faux leather jacket?
An old PU faux leather of mine started peeling. The majority of it is a mess but there are some small sections that look alright. Are those pieces worth saving so I can make something new with them or should I get rid of them before they break down to prevent them from shedding microplastics everywhere? Also if I should reuse them, I’d love to hear project ideas :)

The Pinterest Look: Using Only 5 Soft Furnishings to Nail Spring Decor Trends
Creating magazine-level seasonal refreshes does not necessarily require complete room overhauls or significant expense. Design professionals always demonstrate that clever adjustments to key textile elements can reimagine spaces with minimal disturbance to existing setups. This approach has caught on particularly through visual media where inspiring yet achievable styling is the benchmark for seasonal decor updates.
The Strength of Intentional Minimalism
The most powerful spring refreshes prefer an approach of "less is more," and work with quality and intention as opposed to sheer quantity. What this does is make sure elements are as effective visually as they can be without causing cluttered, too- busy appearances through excessive seasonal freshening. Industry experts know the eyes of viewers intuitively find a few strong things to look at, and as such, informed choice reigns over broad exchange.
Carefully chosen pillows in unusual combinations create instant visual interest without sacrificing clean, modern style. Rather than coordinating sets, look for combinations that bring together complementary colors with slight differences in texture or scale of pattern. This approach creates sophisticated depth without overwhelming other design elements or competing with architectural elements that must remain visually dominant.
The amateur-professional distinction really is in restraint, not excess. Although fervent decorators may bring a dozen seasonal pieces, design professionals opt for fewer but potent items that bring maximum visual impact with a minimal effort. This balancing act on a high wire shows the seemingly easy makeovers can completely alter room perception when done with purpose.
Transitional Indoor-Outdoor Flow
Contemporary spring design increasingly emphasizes connections between interior and exterior spaces, reflecting broader lifestyle trends toward integrated living areas. This strategy acknowledges that seasonal changes influence how we occupy our entire property as opposed to interior rooms, opening up possibilities for unified design language that transcends conventional boundaries.
Outdoor cushions have come a long way from strictly functional products to become integral style components that unify aesthetic motifs across property boundaries. Modern performance fabrics provide advanced texture and pattern possibilities previously only suitable for indoor uses, enabling actual design continuity between indoor and outdoor living spaces. Such unification provides visual expansion that makes properties appear larger and well-planned.
What makes genuinely Pinterest-worthy styling is paying attention to transitional areas that transition interior and exterior spaces. Carefully chosen outdoor pillows in sheltered spaces such as porches or partially covered patios provide intermediate environments that facilitate visual transition from fully interior to fully exterior spaces. Gradated treatment rather than sudden shifts between clearly disparate design languages feels more refined.
Working stylists always use textural contrast to achieve visual interest even in confined color schemes. This produces complex depth by contrast of the senses instead of heavy pattern or color contrast, which creates rooms that are rich and thought-out but not busy or trend-based.
Fabric cushions with slight textural variations achieve this dimensional appeal when combined in considerate groupings. Look at pairings such as slubbed linen with smooth velvet or nubby bouclé with crisp cotton. These combinations add visual interest through tactile contrast and not pattern competition, enabling rooms to be fresh yet ageless instead of overtly seasonal.
Most of the best spring overhauls include at least three clearly dissimilar textures using fabric cushions along with other cushy elements. This combination precludes monotonous or colour-limited sets from appearing vapid or less than engaging and maintains the clear, contemporary aesthetic that defines contemporary design trends without. The art of subtlety lies in choosing contrast textures without having to necessarily draw attention.
Strategic Color Integration
Whereas overall color makeovers are costly, strategic use of seasonal color through carefully designed textiles gives relevance in a timely manner without heavy investment. This way, interiors can point to timely trends without compromising basic fundamentals that far outlast shallow seasons.
Blankets are especially potent tools for introducing seasonal color since their sheer visual impact makes effect likely even when applied selectively. Instead of numerous small accessories in the latest colors of the season, use one well-placed throw in a defining seasonal color. The focused approach creates more subtle impressions than diffused mentions in a region.
Blanket placement has a great impact on their visual presence even though they are naturally movable accessories. Look to unexpected positions such as draped over a dining bench, slung over an entry console, or folded loosely over a bed chair instead of the expected placing on sofa arms. These intentional placements imply effortless use instead of overt styling, creating the lived-in elegance that defines truly Pinterest-perfect rooms.
By focusing on these five key considerations thoughtful minimalism, indoor-outdoor flow, textural layering, strategic use of color placement, and unconventional positioning seasonal updates create maximum impact with minimal expense. This design strategy creates rooms that look contemporary and deliberate without falling into the most common traps of gaudy obvious seasonal decor.

NO to Lininco
Do NOT purchase from lininco.com I ordered two shirts for my husband. He is normally size M, but according to their chart, size L. Not only were the shirts too SMALL, they took TWENTY days to deliver. Ten days after I ordered, I saw the order "tracking" said "order processed" but nothing had shipped. I emailed the company and "coincidentally" they were just about to ship. Thinking maybe they just were behind or made a mistake, I brushed it off. Ten days later my package arrived from California via USPS (not UPS) as they advertise on their site. When we discovered the shirts were going to be too small, I emailed about returning/exchanging the shirts. The company is trying to negotiate returning a small percentage (they began with 10% and are now up to 30%) and trying to tell me I have to return it to China and pay for the return. The return address on the package is the Pico Rivera, CA Sheriff's Office. I've contacted them as well and was told they have been receiving an unusual amount of clothing packages and phone calls similar to mine. This company has set the "return to sender" address as the buyer, so when the Sheriff's Department "returns" the product, you get your order. I'm happy to share any email correspondence and photos with any of you to show what they are doing. Please DO NOT support this fraudulent company.

Why is short-term clothing use rarely considered in conversations about sustainability or fashion?
We talk about fast fashion, waste, and circularity, but what about the clothes we only wear once or twice? Why isn’t temporary use a bigger part of the sustainability discussion? Isn’t this where a lot of impact happens?

I’ve started checking fabric tags more carefully, and it changed how I shop secondhand
Lately I’ve realized that how long I actually wear something has less to do with trends, and more to do with... fabric.
In the past, I used to pick up secondhand pieces mostly based on price, thinking that buying secondhand was a sustainable and eco-friendly choice. If it was cheap, I’d grab it without thinking too much. I thought anything that was labeled “natural” or “sustainable” would automatically be a good choice, but I didn’t pay much attention to the quality.
Over time, though, I started noticing that many of those items just didn’t hold up well. Some of them were made of natural fabrics, but they were too thin, scratchy, or didn’t last after a few washes. I realized that just because something is “natural” doesn’t mean it’s built to last.
Last summer, I tried a linen dress from a small brand called Lintico, and it became the piece I reached for the most. The fabric had more structure, didn’t cling, and actually felt comfortable all day.
Since then, I’ve started paying more attention to how something is made, not just what it’s made from. Now, I’d rather own one dress I wear 40 times than four that never quite feel right.
Has anyone else shifted their approach to thrifting or shopping over time? I’m curious if others also started out chasing low prices and later began focusing on fabric quality and feel.

One of my favorite sustainability hacks from working in an alterations studio is transforming a mother’s or grandmother’s bridal gown into something completely new and personal for the client’s style. It’s such a meaningful (and sustainable) way to give a beautiful piece new life.

Where to get colorful and patterned blouses
Since Amour Vert closed, I don't know where to find colorful and patterned blouses and shirts. I especially liked their modal shirts (for casual days) and washable silk (for dressier days at the office). I like Everlane too but their colors are all so muted. I also shop at Boden, but most of their nice tops are button-down and/or need to be ironed, which is a little high maintenance for a busy working mom of a toddler.
Thanks!

Sustainable Fashion Jobs?
Hello Friendly Redditors!
I’ve been wanting to pivot into Sustainable Fashion for quite some time now because I honestly do not find that I am being sustainable in my current career, it’s giving me a lack of joy and honestly just want to be more intentional in my life and be in a career that respects the environment and have a low environmental impact. With that, I thought of going into the sustainable fashion space and was wondering if any of you have success stories pivoting into this industries? I come from a consumer goods R&D background and have applied to several jobs (e.g., sustainability coordinator, materials specialist etc) but to no avail. :/ Hoping to hear some honest opinions, tips for looking into jobs in this space or any inputs! thank you!

Would you mind minimal packaging & on-demand production from a sustainable brand?
Hey everyone,
I’m building a sustainable apparel brand and could use some honest feedback.
To cut waste, my plan is: ✅ Make each item only when ordered (no deadstock). ✅ Use simple, protective packaging instead of fancy branded boxes.
But I’m worried, does skipping the unboxing experience hurt trust or feel cheap? Would you still buy if the mission was clear?
Also, does on-demand feel too slow for most people? Or would you appreciate the transparency?
Would love your thoughts, as a customer, would this turn you off, or earn your respect?
Thanks!

Women's sneakers from EU
So, I used to wear my Panama Jacks year-round. I have recently traded my worn pair for a new pair of Blundstones, which I love. But I would like to branch out a bit and get myself a pair of sneakers for summer. Being neither an expert in fashion nor in sustainable shopping, I just do not know where to start. Looking at existing reddit posts I find most recommended brands are male-only (which I do not mind, but they often don't have size EU 39).
Any of you have some tips for sustainable, comfortable women's sneakers, preferably produced within Europe, for a non-fashionable girly?

Ba&Sh is not so sustainable as it seems
Their supposed commitment to reducing their ecological footprint is mostly greenwashing. Even if Ba&sh uses some lower-impact materials, like organic cotton, there’s no real evidence they’re taking meaningful action to reduce water usage or other environmental harms.
When it comes to workers’ rights, Ba&sh is a disaster. Not only for the workers in their European shops, but the final stages of production are outsourced to countries with extreme risks of labor abuse. There’s no evidence that the brand ensures financial security for its suppliers, which can lead to poor working conditions and low wages. There's also no indication that they support diversity or inclusion in their supply chain—despite claiming to audit most of their suppliers, this means little without real accountability.
And for those who are hoping to support brands that have stopped exploiting animals: Ba&sh is far from where they claim to be!! If you genuinely want to avoid animal suffering in the production of your clothes, please don’t shop here. They do not trace their animal-derived materials properly, and there’s no proof that animals are not harmed in the process. Many of these animal products come from China, and most of their "evidence" of cruelty free comes directly from their own marketing—not from independent third parties. Ba&sh has released a generic statement about minimizing animal suffering, but it has no formal animal welfare policy. The brand appears to use leather, wool, and exotic animal hair, yet offers no concrete proof that these materials are sourced ethically. They have neither control over, nor seem interested in overseeing, the full supply chain from A to Z.
Titles are just titles. Animal suffering must stop—especially for clothing that’s this overpriced and still doesn’t meet basic quality expectations.

Should we stop buying fast fashion even second hand?
I stopped buying new clothes about 4 years ago. But I still pick up the odd Zara item second hand. Interested to know if people generally also avoid second hand fast fashion or not?
I guess if FF buyers are less able to sell it on after first wear it might affect demand, not by much though.

Looking for something similar to classic Dickies.
I am looking for a good everyday pant. Maybe something similar to dickies but I don’t want to wear polyester and the canvas ones are too rough.
I currently wear the Jungmaven Traverse Pant which I like but they fade and wear pretty quickly for the price tag and I’m looking for something comfortable but maybe a little more durable.
Looking for something in black, ethically made with natural fibers. Low price point would be awesome too but durability is more important than price.

I gave up fast fashion and now i hate my wardrobe
Around a year ago i decided to stop shopping fast fashion and look for more sustainable and eco-friendly clothes. Which led me to buying mostly basic stuff that i thought i liked at first but i really don't feel like myself having these clothes. I want something kinda affordable, but still good looking and fitting my style. I really love the shein "cami tops" and "y2k mesh tops", but i can't find anything similar anywhere apart from depop (where they also resell shein and almost always raise the price unreasonably much for a second hand item). I have searched every possible online second hand market that i have available in my country. I don't have any good thrift shops in my region and I don't know what to do anymore.

Upcycle kimono
Title: Looking for Small-Batch Manufacturers or Collaborators to Upcycle Kimono Fabric into Modern Products 🌸
Post Body:
Hi everyone,
I’m working on a creative upcycling project that involves repurposing traditional Japanese kimono fabric into modern lifestyle and fashion items. We’re starting with ideas like: • Men’s ties and hijabs • Acrylic keyrings and key holders using kimono swatches • Fabric bracelets and accessories • Pocket inserts for T-shirts, collared shirts, and jeans • Men’s caps and small fashion items • Individual kimono fabric pieces with fusible webbing backing (so they can be ironed onto any garment by the buyer)
We’re currently looking for:
✅ Small-batch manufacturers ✅ Artisans or tailors open to collaboration ✅ Makers who can work with vintage/upcycled fabric ✅ Help applying fusible web to fabric for DIY kits ✅ Suggestions on zero-waste design ideas with offcuts
We’re based in Japan, but open to working with partners globally (especially those experienced in upcycled textile production or small accessories).
If you’re a maker, have a recommendation, or would like to collaborate — I’d love to connect. Drop a comment or message me directly. 🙏🏼
Thanks in advance for any leads or ideas!

Found a lovely slow fashion brand from India — The Good Artisan
I recently came across The Good Artisan, a small women-led brand based in India that makes breathable cotton clothing in beautiful hand block prints. I ordered a pair of cotton pants and a kurta from them, and I genuinely loved the quality.
What stood out to me:
- The pieces are made in small batches - no mass production.
- They offer inclusive sizing (XS to 5XL), which is rare in artisanal fashion.
- The cotton is super soft and feels great on sensitive skin.
- Their packaging was minimal and eco-conscious, and they included a founder's note, which felt personal.
It’s nice to find brands that care about both the environment and the people behind the clothes.
Just wanted to share in case anyone’s looking for comfortable, ethical wardrobe staples.

Plus Size Bras and Bathing Suits?
Hi everyone!!! I was wonderiing if there are any slow fashion/sustainable undergarment brands? I wear a 34G-H in US sizing (34DDDD) and I cannot for the life of me find bras that last, let alone, ethical. Also, I have noticed that many slow fashion brands do not sell bras in general that go above a D, so any help would be useful. Bathing suits and sports bras would also be a plus.

Babaa jumper no18 in pine - please tell me your opinion!
A sale is on and I have been looking at this for so long - but still it's a lot of money. I love that it is cotton and not wool; both for feel and for washing. The only way I can justify is that I can take of it for a long time. I'm fed up looking at it every few minutes, it's decision time!
two potential issues
-
its one size, I'd 5'2 and worried it might look really bulky on me - I'm quite rectangular and non curvy.
-
The laundry situation. I'm good at taking care of clothes, but has anyone washed this kind of cotton successfully? How often is reasonable?

What do you think about my clothing remake app idea…?
I want to make a platform where you can find re-maker (designer, sewer, artist, tailor etc.) of your used clothings.
Feel free to sign up to the waitlist if you’re interested 🌱

Namarie Activewear takes FOREVER to process orders and uses excuses “we’re a small business” smh 🤦🏽♀️
Has anyone ordered from Namarie Activewear? I’m trying to switch from Lululemon, Alo and other toxic/overpriced brands to nontoxic organic cotton brands.
I ordered over 3 weeks ago and there’s no sign of my order being shipped. I messaged them a couple of times and both times they responded that they’re a small business and that they have over 14,000 orders to process.
What a lame excuse. If you truly have 14,000 orders to process, then hire more people. 🤦🏽♀️
I’m just trying to see if the wait is worth it? And did others go through this shipping nightmare with them?

Sustainable, Fair Trade, NO SHOW socks??
So I’ve noticed a lot of better stock brands pretty much focus on knee highs/crews and the no show options are very limited and kinda seem like an afterthought, but I recently bought a few pairs of Darn Tough no show socks (Coolmax Run, Run, Tactical Lightweight) because their lifetime warranty appeals to me as I’m kinda rough on socks, but I’ve read some mixed reviews on the process. I’ll deal with it if I need to, but do any other brands (who specifically have no show options available) offer this option for their socks?

You already own the perfect outfit. You just don’t know it yet.
Your wardrobe isn’t the problem.
The gap is between what you wear and who you are.
We’re building something to close that gap — not with trends, but with truth.
My name is Dushyant, and this started as a deeply personal problem. I never felt like my clothes truly represented me. So I began building a tool that helps you feel aligned with what you wear.
Our application is a wardrobe-aware recommendation engine that understands mood, occasion, weather — and you.
Before we build deep, we need your help validating the idea:

Helping people shop less and style smarter — feedback welcome!
Hi Tribe! I’m an experienced CFO working in early-stage SaaS startups, and I’m exploring an idea for a new app focused on sustainable wardrobe management and mindful shopping.
The fashion industry generates 92 million tonnes of textile waste every year, and we think one of the reasons is: it’s easier to buy than to reuse what you already own. We want to change that.
We’re building a tool that:
- Creates a digital wardrobe from your real purchases
- Nudges you when you're about to buy something similar
- Suggests styling options using what you already have
- Tracks your clothing budget & rewards mindful habits
📊 Would love your input — here's a short Typeform to validate the concept:
We’re also looking for:
- Early users / testers
- Developers interested in co-building
- Feedback from anyone who shops online (which is... most of us!)
Thanks in advance — happy to chat with anyone working on similar ideas or interested in the sustainability x tech space. 🙌
